I think the discussion is when Texas and Oklahoma are leaving. Obviously it is for 2023 at the earliest. Such a cluster...

I think most figured this would happen
Re: Cincy, Houston & UCF moving to the Big XII
We talked about the formation of 3 super conferences and the rest being left to clean up the scraps. Fun times.

Tech, as usual, will be lucky if there are any scraps left by the time we get to the table.

Wishful thinking. . . Tech would put together its "real" strategic thinkers . . . on and off campus . . . and come up with a plan to seek membership in the next-level conference AAC or even Big XII. . . and it's, of course, not the Belch.<br>
But, first our endowment total needs to jump up drastically. Big time conference, big time endowment. (Law School or Medical School wouldn't hurt).

I agree... The law and medical school are more political and may be out of reach, but the other things are completely in our reach IF we make it a priority. This last round bothered me more than any other. Some of the teams that are moving up (not those moving to the belt) are ones that have no name recognition or very little. We HAVE name recognition but are always the last to move or close to the last. That has to change and I do not think staying in CUSA is an option. We will be with schools that are and always will be thought of as 1aa - even if they are not anymore. We continue to bury our heads in the sand and not do what is necessary to move up. If it doesn't change soon, we will not survive.

PAC12 is bringing on the following Big12 schools:
Kansas
Iowa State
Kansas State
Oklahoma State
Texas Tech
Final spot is a pickem between Baylor and TCU - TCU has the edge.

TCU and Baylor should be more desirable than Iowa State, Kansas State, and Texas Tech.

I think that move would almost guarantee that USC would bolt for the Big 10. Don't think anything like that will happen.

The problem is that the AAC moves were all about one thing -- size of the market. That's going to be very hard for Tech to overcome. We'd have to be so good that the market doesn't matter. We might could have broken toward that 20 years ago, but we've been content with mediocrity for a long time.

I agree... We have tried to sell ourselves as having the Shreveport market, but that didn't work either.

Heck we can't even push our own Monroe-El Dorado market cuz we'd hurt someone's feelings. SB-ED-Vicksburg-Alex is our circle.

Had all the momentum to make a big push when the WAC invitation came. Except we had a top administrator with no vision regarding athletics who declared victory and went back to his bunker on the 16th Floor.
Tech would have been in C-USA in 2005 instead of UTEP if it had done half the things it could/should have done between 1999 and 2004. Tech has been playing catch-up ever since.

This just in, @TexasFootball is likely to remain in the @BIG12 for at least two more seasons and in all likelihood until 2025.
