Trinity 28 John Curtis 12
Lots of Curtis fans made the trip to Texas Stadium. They were all very nice. The kids fought hard despite the situation back home. They should be proud of themselves. That is not an easy situation.
Curtis looked like a very good HS football team. Simply put Trinity looked like men. They were just bigger and faster and wore Curtis down. Both defenses played very well. The two main differences to me were #1 team speed (both teams were big) #2 both teams could run well, but when Trinity stopped the Curtis running game it was over. When Curtis stopped the Trinity running game (which NO ONE in Texas does so Kudos to Curtis) Trinity could still pass ball. They also used the play action effectively. Good game.

Is John Curtis having a hard time getting teams in La. to play them? That seems like a long ride to play a HS game.

It was part of a showcase all labor day weekend with teams from across the country coming in and playing each other. Teams from La. / Tex. / Ga. / Ohio / Cal. all took part in it.

Yep. West Monroe has the same problem.
Wearing down Curtis is no small feat. They are a physical team. Trinity must be loaded.

I don't keep up with high school football anymore, but it appears that La. football has taken a step back. I remember Louisiana teams dominating Texas teams in the late 90's and early 2000's. I can't tell ya what year, but West Monroe absolutely destroyed Midland Lee one year when Lee had Cedric Benson at running back and Eric Winston at TE. Those were some impressive WM teams. Evangel during the Brock Berlin years were dominating people also.

Where is the BD13 secret Hawaii scouting report? Surely you have some sources.

umm, i distinctly remember a freezing game against fresno state back in like '02 on a thursday night. the reason i remember this vividly is twofold: i got to meet corso, herbstreit and tirico for a story i did for the tech talk; and, i got sick that night and ended up at the hospital a few days later.

And there was a Friday game or two, but who's sweating the small stuff.
Wonder if the Advertiser quoted Malcolm correctly anyway.

Looks like a good idea to me.

"We wanted to build a relationship here," UH head coach Greg McMackin said after yesterday's practice. "This is the biggest Polynesian school in Texas and it is right by the airport so you can fly in and get in and out easily."

Man, I wish I would have known. I would have shown up in full Tech gear. (I might have even thrown a pine cone or two)

Texas teams are much better today cause they've finally discovered the forward pass. About 10 years ago, they ran nothing but the power-I and option. Now? Most teams no longer even have the QB under center; all shotgun.
The other HUGE advantage that Texas schools have is their size. Plano, about the size of Shreveport, has only THREE senior high schools (the third was only started about 10 years ago). How many does Shreveport have? I personally HATE this cause it severely limits the athletic opportunities for the kids.

WM has 2000 kids. This community needs another high school. It's still a good school considering the size. Football is the reason there will NEVER be another school in WM.

A long time ago when Plano High School was winning all thoe Championships they were the only HS in Plano when there should have been 3! Then when they needed 4 they opened a 2nd one Plano East. They have always operated that way and I don't like it.
