NCAA poised to create separate voting bloc for SEC, Big Ten, ACC, Pac-12, Big 12
Even not thinking about the actual issues this just *feels* bad.

Well, the "have-nots" are digging their own grave. When only 30% of the membership is against it, they are helping the spilt to occur sooner. Yes, I think this is really bad news for the non-AQ's. I just wish we would maintain solidarity and tell the AQ's to jump in the lake when it comes time to schedule money games.

It won't be long before even the big guys start losing all their talent to the NFL. If they're going to get paid go for the much bigger bucks. Manziel is only a red shirt sophomore and others like him will quickly all declare for the draft unless the big boys make some sort of deal with the NFL not to draft underclassmen. Or let them declare for the draft and if not getting enough money then let them keep their eligibility. Remember Labron James never played a minute of college basketball.

Unfortunately, the first time an AQ waves that million dollar check in the air, they will have no shortage of takers. While I understand why the non-AQ's have to play money games, I wish we could stand together on this and force the AQ's to accept at least a few of our terms.

If they do this then they will just become another professional league and will be competing with the NFL All the non students will go to them and the others will be left with the real student athletes. The big five may just end up being the minor leagues for the NFL and that may hurt their prestige. I don't believe these professional athletes will have any loyalty to their school and if you think we have guys jumping around now just wait. They will all become free agents every year and play for who bids the most for their services or who will give them playing time so the pro scouts can see them and then they won't play their junior or senior years for fear of being injured. It will not be what they think it is going to be. Attendance is already dropping off. How long will it take before fans realize that all they're getting is watered down pro ball? I personally would not care to watch a professional University of Oklahoma play a professional University of Texas. It becomes just who has the most money. Hell, SMU did this in the '80's. Some people (Craig James?) said Eric Dickerson had to take a pay cut to play in the NFL.
This will not kill college football but it might spell the end of the NCAA as we know it.

The key is in your last sentence. A LOT depends on the NCAA at this point. If they go along with it, it spells doom for non-aq (or now, non big 5). If they do NOT go with it and resist, I can see the scenario above playing out.
The problem is that the non- big 5 need to stick together and resist this. I don't know what is causing ANY non-b5 school to lean toward agreeing to it. It is insanity. The only reason a non-b5 school would consider it is if they think they have a chance to get in a b5 conference.

The "non-Big 5" have always caved to the Big Boys. They have LOTS of bills due and will continue to vote in the best interest of their budgets.
The Big Boys will continue to throw us their scraps and allow us to negotiate our own TV deals. They want total control of the big money that will come from they playoff system. That's what this is about.

I would think that the "non big 5" schools that support this are probably hoping they will get into one of the "big 5" if they go to 16 teams each!

I posted about this last year. The reason this has broad support at all levels is so there won't be a split.
The P5 found the political weakness for the rest of Division I - the NCAA Basketball Tournament. The threat of a split by the P5 where they would take 5 to 10 other leagues with them has forced the Division I conferences at the lowest level to go along with their "cost of attendance" proposals that would impact only those leagues who want to participate. CUSA is one of those leagues.
If schools in leagues like the Southland, SWAC, MEAC, Big Sky, etc...didn't want to go along, the split would occur and the basketball money the tournament generates for those leagues would be gone.
As I said, CUSA intends to support the cost of attendance proposals. The Sun Belt doesn't and presumably won't participate as a league. It will be interesting to see what happens in the next year or two when Tech is paying cost of attendance for all sports but UL Lafayette and ULM are not.

I stand corrected. The Sun Belt schools were against this a year ago, but Benson was quoted on this topic a few weeks ago by CBS Sports.com:

As the P5 goes with their plan and their commissioners start urging all members to play up on their scheduling (isn't Strength of Schedule an important part of the 4-team national playoff in 12 months?), us others will wonder what happened to our money games. . . . . and the P5 will wonder what happened to homecoming wins.

Money games will be reduced for the G5 but it will be interesting to see what happens with the FCS schools like McNeese, Northwestern State, and SELU. The money games for those schools will almost certainly be gone.
And they will not be receiving any type of meaningful College Football Playoff money. There is also no way any of those schools will be able to afford Cost of Attendance scholarships. In sports where these schools might be able to compete with FBS schools for recruits, like baseball or track and field, the lack of stipends will have a dramatic impact.
