In Baton Rouge, the Advocate still refers to them as ULL or UL-Lafayette, but young people here that have never heard of USL do indeed call them UL. I think it's because UL is simply much easier to say than is ULL. I never hear them referred to as Louisiana by anyone though, so they've still got an identity crisis to deal with. I guess a lot of schools have to deal with identity issues. We went through it ourselves when the national press hung the la-Tech moniker on us. Dooley helped me grow to accept it, and now I kind of like it, or I've at least gotten used to it.

Today's young are lazy in speech. Heck even their texting is lazy at it would require an extra L to type ULL.
