BAGHDAD -- The fortresslike compound rising beside the Tigris River here will be the world's largest of its kind, the size of Vatican City, with the population of a small town, its own defense force, self-contained power and water, and a precarious perch at the heart of Iraq's turbulent future.

Stunning.
Under the current administration we now have NO FEMA office in New Orleans going into hurricane season, yet we will have a billion dollar embassy in Iraq.
This administration has taken ignorance and arrogance to a level never seen before.

And we shouldnt have a FEMA office in NO. It isnt FEMA's job to wipe the state's asses for them. Prehurricane should be all local and state officials, then FEMA step in with help afterwards, if needed. FEMA shouldnt have to be there to hold our hands through every crisis because Louisiana is too stupid to do any better.
Re: $1 billion Baghdad embassy
Exactly, quit blaming the feds for Louisiana's ineptness to prepare for a hurricane. You have two retards leading NO and Louisiana, I just pray that this year no more Louisiana citizens will have to suffer because of these two lunatics.

Louisiana and NO were at fault for not preparing for the hurricanes. Once FEMA took over, they also were to blame. FEMA wants all emergancy organizations to run an Incident Command System, Homeland Security wants this also. FEMA FAILED to implement a successful ICS after the hurricanes.

Exactly, after the hurricane. I think FEMA didnt do too well after the hurricane. I am merely pointing out that FEMA shouldnt have had any responsibility before the hurricane like many think they should.

You are right. FEMA's responsibility comes after the disaster.
Re: $1 billion Baghdad embassy
Don't know what fema and hurricanes have to do with the $1 billion white elephant we are building in Baghdad.
But returning to the subject at hand, they should have spent the money on water purification projects, medical care and education improvement, and electricity production.
Bush & Co. thinks that need a fortress in Baghdad because they really do need one.

So, were gonna keep playing the blame game and leave the mid gulf coast all on their own this year with no help? LOL. Come on guys...
Katrina didnt just affect La. Mississippi was ruined for about 40 miles.
Besides, quit hijacking treads with political spin. I want to know what the hell we are doing building an embassy like that in Iraq. Once we are out of there, it will probably will be destroyed. Attacked a thousand times anyway. Its absurd.

Alta, you hijacked it with your No FEMA building in NO crack, so dont give me this BS. I think building this huge embassy is ridiculous, and it shouldnt happen, but Alta dont make ridiculous claims and not expect to get called out on it, on or off subject.

Amen! However, back to the thread title, the rebirth of and rebuilt ancient Babylon/ present day Iraq as a major player in world events, in the "end days", is prophised in the old and new testament. Iraq/Babylon is actually the second most named country in the Bible after Israel. JMO, but our being there and helping in the rebuilding of Iraq is very prophetic. Not saying that I agree with this at all. Just saying that IMHO, GOD spoke through the old Prophets (check out Isaiah and Daniel) as well as John in the Book of Revelation about this very same happening.
Check these out just for fun. I received this the other day.
All are true. However, I do need to check out the verse listed in the Koran.
