And after Boston Scott scored his TD on that pitch play out of the Diamond package, we never ran that same play again all day. You can't make this stuff up.

Several times yesterday he had receivers wide open, but he waited another 3-5 seconds before finally throwing the pass to them. At that point, it's too late. The opposing DB had recovered, or the WR had simply run out of pattern. It's pathetic. It pains me to say it, but J'Mar is a terrible QB. This team will go no where with him at the helm.
I think it's mental with J'Mar. Early this season J'Mar was tagged as a "turnover machine" by many because he was careless with the football and repeatedly turned the ball over. Now he has stopped the turnovers, but he appears to be overcompensating. That's why he's holding the ball too long. Instead of throwing on pattern, he's waiting (too long) until a receiver is wide open before even thinking about throwing the ball. Look at his stats. J'Mar had a lot of turnovers early in the season, but also a lot of big plays. Now he's completely stopped the turnovers, but he's also making no big plays. He's such a head case...
Also, we simplified things using the clap cadence (which everyone is doing) than the traditional vocal snap count.

The Defensive players are not the problem, the calls that are made is where the problem is. Skip makes out like he lets BB make his own defensive calls, not sure, but if BB is making that same prevent call every game on his own, maybe he does need to go. A good DC would have some decent talent to work with if he came in now.
Re: Start Westin Elliot Now!
Overall the defense has played well. But, yeah, at times the coaches mess things up. That closing 39 seconds of the 1st half is a good example. UNT, their QB Fine, was not handling our pressure very well. But, when we only rushed three Fine did fine. Should have blitzed every play. Not all-out wreckless blitzes, but ones with purpose, and mixing it up with different kinds of blitzes. But, we dropped back and gave them 3 points. And even after we missed the long FG...with 2:30 left, we had no choice at that point but to bring it! We needed to stuff them for a quick 3 and out, and if they burned us for a TD...well then, it's 31-23 still a one-possession game and we have a chance. Instead we played soft and they ran that same damn play off left tackle...

Every chance you get, look directly into the face of J'Mar, he has that deer in the headlight, lights are on-nobody home look, it is scary. I saw that several weeks ago and said I was very afraid J'Mar was going to be a mental case, I did not want him to be but that was my fears.
Some guys do great in practice, but when the game is on, some overthink things, some panic and cannot think at all, And game-time is just too much for some. One of the key things that you noticed and many others have noticed is his tendency to lock on his receiver, usually that gets better as a QB matures, He has gotten worse. The locking on is even drawing comments from outside people.
I would like to see J'Mar turned loose for one quarter, tell him to call his own plays, does not matter if he throws interceptions, fumbles, or runs like a running back, nothing matters. That would tell us a lot and I think Rattay could give him some guidance on that, J'mar would either shine or we could then move on.

The really scary thing, if you can see it the coaches do too and they still don't put the backup QB in. At this point, if the backup gave us a better chance he would be playing.....

Why do you believe that? He still has Craft starting at RB instead of Scott.

Scott had 16 carries yesterday, Craft had 8....Does it matter who is on the field at RB for the opening snap?

Yes it does. Had Craft not gotten hurt, they would have had equal carries, but unequal yardage...AGAIN.

You sure? Scott's ypc was 4. Craft's was 3.75. Not much difference yesterday.

Whatever. Your Skip crush is messing up your ability to see who the best RB is. It's not even close.

No crush on Skip. I can remember everyone wanting J'mar to start after the Arkansas game last year.... I have more confidence in Skip's talent evaluation than yours.

You obviously don't know and understand Coach Holtz. He's very hard-headed to a fault. Even the USF fans warned us that Holtz would go down with the ship before he admits that he made a personnel mistake.
