Yeah, Heber Springs doesn't offer what Hot Springs does, but it's still prettier than anyplace you'd go in North Louisiana. Plus you could catch a record trout or take the family out to The Red Apple Inn.

Ah the Red Apple Inn that was my honeymoon destination. Great place, espicially for a youngster without much money and only a little time.

I'm too much of a city boy to have known that.

Yep, we took a couple cruises just after sundown. Very nice.
The fireworks from the boat was one of the best experiences i have ever had on a boat. Fireworks above and surrounded by red&green bow lights. I waited until mosf everyone cleared out before i pulled anchor.
I will definately refer to this thread when we start planning next years trip. Thanks everyone!

Caught the flu after skinny dipping with a fraternity brother's sister and another girl below the dam years ago. Sorry dawgmatic. Even a Southern Gentleman gives in to his weaknesses every once in a while.
Re: Suggest a lake for boating vacation
Went there for the fourth 2 years ago, didn't do much boating, but did the fireworks from the boat, and that was cool. Lost my anchor, had to cut it loose after fighting with it for 20 minutes.
Re: Suggest a lake for boating vacation
Two years in a row I have missed seeing fireworks on Lake Hamilton by one night. We did go see the Lake Degray fireworks on the 4th. I know I am biased, but I thought our show on Lake Claiborne is better than the Degray show. The Degray show pulled in lots of people. There were several hundred boats on the lake, and a huge crowd watching from the lodge. There were also people down every side road leading to the lodge. If y'all haven't seen the Lake Claiborne Show yet you should give it a chance.

You want a commemorative 2013 hat? Only one one of 144?
