I heard that he had his debut yesterday and had a 1-2-3 inning and struck out the first batter he faced.
Looked great against the Royals. Congrats Phil. Great young man if you have ever had a chance to visit with him...very humble.

I'm so happy for him
I'm reading the rotation on his fastball is upwards of 2,500 rpm at 90+ mph and puts him in the top 5% of all big league pitchers. That kind of fastball has a lot of movement. He can throw high heat and most batters can touch him. That's the pitch that has moved him so fast through the minor leagues to yesterday's debut. Prior coaches had encouraged him to throw a higher percentage of breaking balls. When he got drafted by the Padres, they told him to throw the heater. It's working.
