5. Maureese Wren, 6-4, 215, Mesquite Horn: Signed with Louisiana Tech. Also considered Washington, Texas Tech and Arkansas.
This guy (Wren) is a big time STUD! He will be LA Tech's new offensive STAR of the future. With Wren on offense and Amik Robertson on defense, we can look forward to very big things from LA Tech football in the years to come.
By the way, Wren is the #21 ranked recruit in DFW's "Star 100", the Ft Worth Star-Telegram’s list of top 100 football recruits from the Class of 2018. Also, Tech signee, BeeJay Wiliamson is ranked #50 and Broderick Calhoun is ranked #81 on the same list.

I'm not sure why it is so hard for you to understand that some fans, supporters WANT MORE! I think I have been very clear in expressing my views. I have acknowledged Holtz's success in bowls (Tech is just one of four on a 4-bowl win streak). I like Holtz, both as a coach and as a person. But...I ask, will we something more than a 9-win season? I don't like excuses and "yeah, buts." BULLSHIT!!! Kiffin just proved that a good coach can quickly win a CUSA championship and have 11 wins. That's it. No more BS excuses for Holtz. You sunshine pumpers got donkey-stomped by Kiffin for all your excuses.
Personally, I think recruits respond positively to passionate fan support. First, they know we are fans. And it reads far better than fans of a loser coach singing his praises.
^^THIS! What he said.
Re: Recruiting Class of 2018
Wren looks great on film but lacks the top end speed you look for in a play making WR. I think that’s why the big boys wanted him as an OLB

Quickness and speed can be improved with good coaching. Hester could prove his worth if he gets more out of Wren.

I haven’t read all the recruiting posts but I also haven’t seen anything regarding 6’5 305 lb Neal Tipton of Calvary In Shreveport. He definitely has a La Tech All American bloodline with the well known Hinton family.

Have we offered the RB Travinsky Mosley from Woodlawn? We need RBs badly next year
Re: Recruiting Class of 2018
Why the hell haven’t we offered a 6’5 300 offensive tackle from Bossier? What the hell?

So why hasn't he signed anywhere?

Just because he is big, doesn't mean he has the foot speed to pass block or run block. If big was all it took, why didn't that 6'7" guy who transferred in from LSU work out?
Re: Recruiting Class of 2018
I understand Tipton wants to play at Tech and is hoping his all star game performance will get him a Tech offer. Hopefully things will work out for him and Tech coming together.
Re: Recruiting Class of 2018
What I've found, unfortunately, in my limited time on the coaching side is that many colleges are only concerned about who else is recruiting the player. If nobody else has offered, then the player must not be very good. I don't know if they don't trust their own evaluations, or if they don't want to put in the time required to actually determine who can play and who can't, but many times who else has offered plays a huge role in whether or not the college will be interested in the player.

I believe that. My theory is if you’re going to let jucos 6’5 300 waste away on your bench we may as well go get the local size bossier has to offer. You can’t pass up size like that.
Re: Recruiting Class of 2018
Stop the BS armchair recruiting speculation. Tipton has been to LA Tech's camp(s), he has been evaluated IN PERSON by Tech's coaches. Nobody is evaluating him based on "who else has or has not offered the player".
Re: Recruiting Class of 2018
If nobody else is recruiting them and we think we want them we won't waste a scholarship offer when we can offer them a roster spot as a walk on.
