Louisiana FBS Football Overall Records So Far
Taking a look at Louisiana's FBS football overall records around the state through week 5:
#5 LSU 5-0
LA Tech 3-1
Tulane 2-3
ULM 2-3
UL-Laf 1-3
Re: Louisiana FBS Football Overall Records So Far
Tulane looked really good in dispatching Memphis this weekend.
The UL-Xs are who they are. I know it was Bama, and Bama can dominate just about anyone, but if there was ever "men against boys" that was it.
LSU has it's gauntlet to run, and they won't emerge unscathed. But, truthfully, while I monitor other in-state schools, like I follow fellow CUSA schools, I only care what we do.

The perfect weekend of football for me is when the Dawgs win, while LSU, Tulane, ULL, and ULM all lose. It doesn't happen often, but it has occurred from time to time. Of course, the nightmare weekend of football for me is when we lose, and they all win. That happens from time to time as well.

We should finish the season with the best record in Louisiana considering schedules versus the talent each team has.

Same for me! Of course, I add in a Saints win the next day too! :D

Yeah, I won't lie, I took pleasure watching Bama toy with ULL. At the same time I'm glad it wasn't us. I like to think we would show more of a pulse, but they are on a another level. Bama had more points than they had total yards for most of the first half. I watched the Tulane game as well. I think we are a better team than Tulane, but their scheme would give us fits if history is any indication.

Bama is one a different level no doubt about that. We will have a common opponent to compare ourselves to Tulane after this weekend.

Like I said, I think we are the better team, but I also think we would struggle against their offense because of the scheme they run. This is one of the problems with comparing common opponents.

Agreed comparing common opponents is not an exact science, but for this season it is all we have. They lost to UAB and I think we win this weekend.
As far as having trouble against an triple option attack, every school has problems against it. That's why Tulane runs it. We have a long history of having trouble against Tulane regardless of what offense they are using. Even in years when they are any good. :(

We lost to Tulane in Skippy's first year here - one of the worst games ever (for me)

I wouldn't say that. We've only played them twice since leather helmets went out, and those two years happened to be two of their best teams in the last 20 years (one of which was possibly their best team ever).
They'd likely be a handful this year, but we don't have any decent sample size to compare ourselves to Tulane historically.

No, but if we look at Sagarin or some such thing over the years we are way ahead.

That is a fact. They have made I think 4 bowl games in the last 20 years. We played them 2 of those 4 years and the 98 team was their best ever. Skips first year was a missed opportunity. They were decent but not great and we got them at home.

No, that's a well-founded opinion based on facts.

I thought we had played them a little more often. Still we are 0-fer lifetime against them. :o
Kind of glad they are not on the schedule this year. Not that interested in playing against their current coach. Plus, we will have enough to cheer about in our championship season.
