A tribute to one of my inspirations
Re: A tribute to one of my inspirations
Wow. No Dan Fogelberg fans? Where are you weed heads from the 70's and early 80's?

Larry King had a tribute to Fogelberg last night. I knew nothing about it until I started flipping through the channels. A sad day for sure.
Fogelberg was an excellent song writer.
Very good music for "unwinding" after a tough day at class.

who is Dan Fogelberg? Was he in Alabama ?
Re: A tribute to one of my inspirations
I guess I would classify as a Fogelberg fan.
I posted in another thread about my wife selling my 1960's and 1970's albums in a garage sale. Your thread about the death of Dan Fogelberg brought that incident to mind. I had at least two of his albums. I wish I still had them.

I've been reminiscing on youtube. I used to write quite a bit and the main two people I listened to while writing were Dan Fogelberg and John Denver.

I got up early this morning playing Dan Fogelberg songs that I could find on youtube. Fogelberg and Denver were two of the greatest singer/songwriters. James Taylor and Billy Joel were also in the same era. Earlier great ones were Jim Croce and Bob Dylan. All of these guys had multiple hits. I'm sure I'm missing some. Perhaps we need a separate thread about favorite singer/songwriters? My vote would have to go to James Taylor.

Yeah, James Taylor is awesome. Although, Jim Croce is right up there. However, my favorite singer/songwriter is from the country side of music. She never made it big as a singer and released only a couple of albums, but she's written some good hits. Her name is Roxie Dean.:D

Now that you've headed toward the country, don't forget Willie Nelson. He is/was a great songwriter/performer. I never liked Kristofferson's voice but he definitely wrote some good songs.
Another of my favorites was Gordon Lightfoot, a Canadian singer/songwriter.
Re: A tribute to one of my inspirations
Paul Simon - How could I forget him?
