Re: Tech ruins Hide Away Park tailgating
I thought there was some type of ban or something going on. It is not a great inconvenience to live by the same rules as everyone else. Use your pledges to secure the spot or else stagger that half mile.

......or, they can just stay home. We don't need fans anyway, right? :icon_roll:
Re: Tech ruins Hide Away Park tailgating
And who established this rule?
Re: Tech ruins Hide Away Park tailgating
I think Sportdawg was joking. I heard it was about alcohol.

They need to learn to hide their beer. If it's about being busted by cops, it's not Tech's fault then.
Re: Tech ruins Hide Away Park tailgating
Apparently it was about underage drinking
Re: Tech ruins Hide Away Park tailgating
Drinking age was 18 when I went to TECH. What would TECH be without a few drinks? Just do it safely and don't do anything stupid to ruin the rest of your life.
Re: Tech ruins Hide Away Park tailgating
They were warned that the ATF was going to be on campus and there was nothing that the admin could do to discourage federal agents from making arrests for under aged drinking and that it might be in their best interest not to conduct business as usual...
So instead of putting in proper safe guards to prevent under aged drinking the individual groups decided not to participate at all....
Re: Tech ruins Hide Away Park tailgating
Too me if sounded like the admin was trying to help them and warn them....

I still can't believe that we ask 18-21 yr olds to fight & possibly die for their country in war, but we won't let them drink a beer. Ridiculous.
Re: Tech ruins Hide Away Park tailgating
True, but it's not like it's a new law or something has changed recently...
If I'm in charge, I just tell them they are going to be on campus so corundum the your business accordingly to the letter of the law to avoid issues....

All it did was convince our group --all LA Tech alumni-- to not do it again. Congratulations Tech!
Are you saying your fraternity alumni had to have everything in place and set up for your tailgate at 8 AM? I assume you had to pay a fee or whatever, so it seems you could set up anytime you want. Like you said earlier, Tech needs to make attending games "hassle free" and customer friendly. We are finally getting at least decent attendance and to put up roadblocks is poor business - not to mention senseless.

In Richland Parish you could buy alcohol at the age of 15. Nobody bothered us, certainly not the federal government that should have more important things to worry about.

In the 21st Century, it sounds like its a bummer being young, man.

Kicking the Greeks out of Hideaway with the new rules, you can say goodbye to a great student section. @tmcclelland @LATechFB @lkguice
The new rules are literally pushing away a majority of the fans. I agree there should be rules but this isn't Russia.
As a former alumni this shouldn't happen. Greeks are now tailgating at their houses and in return will have to walk 1/2 mile away to come
How does one become a "former" alum, give your diploma back?
As for walking a 1/2 mile, well, we park over by Jenkins dorm every game and walk. That's at least a 1/2 mile one way, I'd say. It's an easy stroll.
