Re: 2004-2005 Basketball Schedule
Dang! That early season schedule is stinkin' brutal.
Re: 2004-2005 Basketball Schedule
two games at home before jan 1.
Re: 2004-2005 Basketball Schedule
That is a very weak schedule. Why are we playing at Jackson St.? Or why are we even playing Jackson St.? Another terrible scheduling job by Oaks, he has got to be the worst scheduler in all of college sports.

I just love when someone who has no idea about how things work comments........

Re: 2004-2005 Basketball Schedule
I'm certainly glad to see Tech and UL getting back together on the hardwood, even if the game is being played in Baton Rouge this year. As many of us have said time and time again, Tech and the Cajuns need to be playing each other every year in every sport! When the Cajuns and Bulldogs play, it improves each of our schedules.
The Cajuns OOC schedule has been informally released and, in my opinion, has been improved greatly. The Cajuns out of conference schedule for 2004-2005 is as follows:
La Tech - in Baton Rouge
LSU or Tulane - in Baton Rouge
St. Mary's a Non D-1 school
Georgia State
Rice
Southern Illinois
at Georgia State
at North Carolina Charlotte
at Kansas
at McNeese
at North Carolina State
at Vanderbilt
Good luck to the Bulldogs (except against my Cajuns)!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: 2004-2005 Basketball Schedule
That does, indeed, look like a pretty good OOC sked for the University of Louisiana At Lafayette.

I think what he is saying is that Richard makes out his own schedule of course he has so much $$$ he has to bring in and some stipulations but he makes it out, not Oakes.
I am considering buying season tickets in basketball for the first time but our home OOC schedule is terrible once again. I just don't understand why we are not playing ulm at home, grambling at home, somebody decent OOC at home, I understand the UTSA but we only play two home OOC games before WAC play? I don't understand why not more home games.
Re: 2004-2005 Basketball Schedule
Good,
It's all about $$$$$$$$$$. Since we have NO budget for men's hoops, we can't PAY anyone to come to the TAC. That's why we have to go to Jackson St. That's why we have to do home and home the same year with some teams. We don't have the money to PAY them for a home game.
Richard's hands are tied, and he hates it. Don't ask him about it unless you want a profane tirade about the situation. Thankfully, the WAC has done away with games against D2 or D3 schools.
Re: 2004-2005 Basketball Schedule
I understand what you are saying but you don't have to pay ulm a dime if we play them home and home and it is only a 30 minute bus drive and our fans could go to that game and see the bulldogs.
We could easily make up what it would cost us and then some to play Grambling in the gate-people would turn out for that game especially Grambling fans and Millsap fans.
You are right, thankfully the WAC put a stop to us playing D2 nad D3 schools, how embarassing. We have GOT to do something about our home OOC schedule, it is ridiculous. Two home games before WAC begins, I doubt another D1 school in the nation has that bad of a schedule at home.
Re: 2004-2005 Basketball Schedule
Try to look at Tech basketball from an outsiders view. Tech will play more "well known" OCC teams as the program continues to improve. I do agree with many fans that the occ schedule is week , but my optomistic opinion is that this season is a good opportunity for the basketball team to gain alot of momentum. The early season tournament in baton rouge is a positive, ( if tech gets past ULL they will more than likely play LSU, and that is something many Tech fans would enjoy seeing) also the braket buster is a great chance for Tech to showcase their skills. HERES THE POINT: take the schedule....win win win......establish credibility......have a much better schedule in the future

Try as I may, ... I'm still biased. I'm just happy we have a team to put on the court. I like the thought of win, win, win. What a healing salve that is indeed.
