Seattle tied tottenham last weekend
And the LA Galaxy beat Man U last year in a friendly. Other MLS sides have had a measure of success vs EPL and other world-power clubs over the years. Not much can be read into these friendlies, since there is mass substitution and no one wants to get hurt, etc... Still, I had expected better from LA and SKC in those two matches. The games were as lopsided as the score indicates.
NY Red Bulls 1 Arsenal 0
Chalk up one for the MLS vs. EPL
Fulham 3 DC United 0. That's currently a tier 2 team that beat MLS.
MLS All-stars 2 Bayern Munich 1
Landon Donovan scores game-winner and is named the game's MVP.
Just a friendly so again, it doesn't mean much. Still, as LD said in the post game, anytime you beat a side like Bayern Munich, with at least 6 of the German WC champions playing, that's very nice. Good job MLS!!!
Water under the bridge....
But, yeah, HUGE mistake! And, a HUGE disservice to the best player in US history. LD commented on it during the post game last night. Said it made him "sick" to be left off and it affected his play for the Galaxy for a few weeks. But now he's back to enjoying the game, having fun, and it's showing big time. Also, the scuttle-butt is LD will rejoin the MNT soon for some upcoming international friendlies.
LD to retire!? Say it ain't so!

Pretty disappointing.
Talk about a bummer.
Okay....I admit it. There are ways to make soccer more interesting.
