A 5 pt home underdog to a team that won three games last year. Absolutely sickening!

At this point I just want to root for individuals, I want to see Boston Scott get the start. The kid is a leader. Put him out there at WR or RB. We need the best players on the field.
I still want to win (of course). But I want to see a tidal shift in Holtz's approach. I know it's a pipe dream. But I kind of hope Skip learned something when NT went for it on 4th down from their own 30. That sometimes the risk is worth the reward, and more importantly what it does for your team's psyche to know that your coach believes in you enough to take that risk from time to time, and when the win is on the line.
I see a lot of talk about heart of this team, and I think it's a confidence thing. I'm sure our kids have heart. In fact, Skip keeps making the injury case... if injuries are as bad as he says, and I don't doubt they are, then there is some heart out there, and we are competing, but it seems this team really needs a confidence boost. They need our coach to believe in them enough to stop playing for field goals...to blitz late in close games and on 3rd and longs to show some faith in them that they can execute. J'mar's passes, especially in the USM game, reminded me of the kind of throws Scotty Young made regularly in '13. Similarly, I think Scotty struggled with confidence. I don't blame Skip for that, I just think he hadn't played in "full game time for speed" for so long that when he was confronted with it, he lost all confidence quickly. When I look at J'mar it hasn't all been pretty, but at the South Carolina game he pretty much marched us down the field all game (with little, to no run game)...he stared down receivers, but he made the throws. Then he made a terrible decision, and the SC defender made a great play. And Skip pretty much closed the book on him, until we surrendered the lead. We hadn't punted all day, and the two drives after that pick were 3 and outs (if memory serves me correctly, I know there wasn't much to them), as Skip went conservative, because OMG our Soph. QB threw an interception. Skip showed no confidence in his QB, and J'Mar's confidence has eroded since.
In a perfect world, when Skip talks about all the injuries, he would point out that despite all of that this team has played good enough to win almost all of our games, it is on me and the coaching staff to find a way to deliver. We need to change. (maybe he has said things (?), in which case he needs to ACT)
I'm not hopeful, but I can't see what Skip has to lose. I'm 99% sure he'll get a pass on this year, even if he goes 4-8. Open the book up, throw in some trick plays even. Full throttle play to win. If he does that and manages even 2 of the last 3, it will work wonders for our team's psyche.
And yes I am a buffoon when it comes to football.
We lost two receivers and a safety who didn't tackle well. Trent Taylor would not be making catches if he were here because we don't throw across the middle. We replaced him with an excellent inside guy who rarely gets a touch. Carlos would likely be getting overthrown just like our wide open receivers are now.
Saying all that we lost a QB and our HC didn't have another even decent QB ready to step in.
How does a three win team improve so much and a 9 win team struggle with its easiest schedule ever? Coaching. Absolutely sickening!
You mean before Dykes? He was 2 for 3. Even Dooley got us in one when the WAC only had 4 tie ins. Teams with losing records now qualify for bowls so it's really not a big deal like it was in 2000. Holtz teams have under performed in all three of the bowl years. He mismanages his QB situation and now can't win with our easiest ever schedule. He is bad.
I have to agree with you on that PawDawg, even JBIII got us into the Boise bowl to play Clemson, Bowl games were a real privilege just 10-15 years ago, now they are like Dollar General Stores, hell everybody's got one.
As far as why all of a sudden we are not a conference championship caliber team anymore, plenty of blame to go around. The college game is all about the QB, we have had three consecutive good QB's, Skip even helped develop the third one. We did not develop a fourth one, remember, this game is all about the QB, good QB=good team, bad QB=bad team. When the main part fails, it needs repairing or replacing, and someone to admit it is failing.
Skip is trying to force "his guy" on us. Did he actually recruit either one of the quitters? I doubt it. I've been critical of the quitters, but looking back they knew no matter how well they did, they had a loser coach who would never play the best.
glad you are coming around:)
Your #2 QB and 3 or 4 QB both leaving almost simultaneously is not a good sign, they did not both leave because they were QUITTERS, cowards, or afraid. I think they left because they felt even if something happened to #1 and they got to play, they did not want to play for that Coach. Neither QB felt like waiting for that one play that would put them in or waiting for #1 to graduate, it just was not worth it to wait and play under the conditions they felt they would be playing under.
Those QB's wanted to be in a system where they could flourish and have fun, two options they probably were not going to have even if they stayed and were ALLOWED to play.
We're up to 90
After one of our players went down during the UNT, it was funny hearing my 10 year old say "That's 71!"Quote:
TheTimFletcherShow @FletchWorldWide 45m45 minutes agoMore
@LATechFB HC @CoachSHoltz: we have had over 90 players Miss time at some point due to injury this season
It's a shame that Skip thinks it's OK to use the injuries of our players as the excuse for not being able to deliver Wins on games that our hobbled team plays well enough to win. If he wants to use the injuries as an excuse for us sort of coming back to the field, fine, whatever. That still does not excuse 1-4 in one point or OT games.

90??? As in nine-zero?
Gosh, that has got to be almost the entire team. Redshirts, walk-ons, everybody!
Even Holtz has to know his English better than this. What you are trying to say is that we have had multiple players injured every game (sometimes the SAME player was injured for more than one game). You are not saying that you have 90 individual players that were injured. That is pure BS.
How desperate and zoned out does a coach have to be to go digging around the field house archives looking for inane statistics like that, which, in my opinion, are nothing but an indictment against him and his entire regime?!?!
I mean, who ever HEARD of a coach saying we've had 70 injuries or 90 injuries or any number higher than maybe a dozen. It seems to me that 90 injuries could only be the result of total ineptitude on the sidelines, practice field, weight room and training room. The inexcusable QB play is more like a runny nose in a patient that has cancer.
It is enough to make me question my sanity and certainly my intelligence if I continue to pour a LOT of perfectly good money and time into a program that seems to not give a rat's rear end about my and many others complete dissatisfaction with their product.
Therefore, I plan to wear red tomorrow as a means of expressing my current mood as it relates to our program. I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore. Everyone go open their window or their door and shout that out as loud as you can. I'M MAD AS HELL AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!
And you kids get off of my lawn!
Tech 22, Rats 21
15K announced
10K actual
Attendance will so bad. It'll be no one on the east side except BOP and a few students that can all fit in one section.
Probably going to get an old fashion BUTT whipun tomorrow, hopeing I am wrong and the BULLDOGS pull off the up-set!
Lane Pippon about to be on KNBB 97.7 ! 11:16 AM or 10:16 in Ruston
I plan to erect a festivus pole at my tailgate. All are invited to the airing of grievances.
I heard a rumor that OVQB was not tailgating tomorrow. Is there any truth to that?
We'll, we'll be there tomorrow, all 2 of us. Look for the tent with the festivus pole.
Not looking forward to today's score. This could be worse than our Miss State shellacking in September.
FAU 69 >>> UNT 31 three weeks ago
UNT 24 > Tech 23 in Ruston last weekend
FAU >>>>>>>> Tech. Kiffin gets to name today's score.
And we get to make up for this record 7 home games season debacle with extra road games over the next few years. Good job Skip!
The schedule is on our AD! The performance of our team is on Skip!
Hate that I am missing tailgating...:(
Yep, the AD set this up to be AT MINIMUM an 8 win season for Skip. But at least with all of the FGs we've kicked this season we have a new all time leading scorer AND our starting QB got to sit in the dugout with his baseball buds in the spring. Maybe we will find a passing offense next spring with someone who wants to be a fulltime QB?
Let's just see what happens. It SHOULD be close. If our team is in better spirits than our message board, it will be.
Should be close? LOL FAU is 5-0 in CUSA beating all opponents by an average score of 47-26. In our two common opponents (UNT & WKU) they won by an average score of 56-30.
Nationally FAU is:
#1 in Turnover Margin
#7 Red Zone Offense
#7 Rushing Offense
#14 Scoring Offense
#20 Total Offense
#18 Pass Effic Defense
Field goals will not keep us in today's game. The final score will not be 'close' unless Kiffin lets off the offensive gas in the second half.
Should prove to be a beautiful day for some football in Ruston today!
Bulldogs gonna get the upset!
Jealous of all that get to be there to enjoy it!
Make no mistake about it, we have the athletes to win the game. We're not going to win, but it won't be because they have superior athletes.
Remeber Skip used the same injury excuse for his shit performance at USF.
Give the ball to Boston Scott. He's our premier back.
Saw a pregame pic of the east side, it's pretty embarrassing.
Crowd looks HORRIBLE on tv
Embarrassing. How many steps back can a program take in two and a half months?
Our AD did nothing to build the fanbase. He put everything into the first two games of the seaaon.
What are these first two plays? Begging the safeties to come down and stuff the run. That’s now how you run read option. Tim Rattay, where ya at?
4th down from THEIR OWN 20 yardline... FAU goes for it and gets the first down. That is a call that Skip Holtz has never made in his life.
While our defense is "meerkat" looking to our sideline FAU snaps the ball for about a 40 yard pass completion.
inb4 "Defense isn't the problem."
Touchdown FAU. Then they go for two. FAU doesn't even need a kicker, much less design their whole offense around one.
I am gonna watch Auburn and Georgia this is going to be the biggest embarrassment in the history of the Joe.
Even though the pass was broken up, Kiffin just told Skip Holtz exactly what he thinks with that 2-pt try.
Looks like it is now possible for us to throw slants, who knew that it we could do that.
Between the quick passing plays and the better OL blocking, J'mar is looking a lot better today.
4th & 4 on the 16.
UGGGHHHHHH GO FOR IT
The OL needs to learn how to block some on a screen play before they release.
The FG Strategy worked to perfection on this drive.
There's that Holtz FG offense. Move up field and settle for a FG.
I hate fieldgoals
1st down: crappy running play
2nd down: crappy running play
3rd down: crappy screen pass
4th down: the inevitable field goal
Wash, rinse, repeat.
FAU had zero hesitation to go for it on 4th down deep in their own territory.
That’s how much they think of us.
Zilch.
I swear J'mar must throw an INT every single red-zone pass in practice.
Skip is scared to have J'mar pass the ball once we are in FG range since the SC game.
Your choice...and your back's
We got the ball back. Let's get to FG range!
they're are only up by 3, we can go more conservative
nice catch Hardy
J'Mar seems to be playing well today. Open it up and let him throw it all over the place (to our receivers, of course).
Alright, time to get conservative here. Warm up Barnes
I was worried about the team giving up, but they are playing hard today.
Short slants over the middle... medium passes over the middle. Who is offensive coordinating for us today and can you please keep it up!
Offense is looking better, now we need to do some inside runs, instead of all of those outside runs that are not working.
If we had been running these passing plays against North TX, we would have won that game going away.
Lol The FAU defender facemasked Veal so hard that he pulled his own arm muscle.
We HAVE to STOP these slow developing running plays, especially with Boston.
Field Goal Time!!
Wtf is our Oline doing? No one is blocking.
...and MISSED IT!!
Everyone repeat after me... WE'RE PLAYING NOT TO LOSE!
Playcalling inside the 20 is literally comical.
Holtz favorite weapon missed the chip shot. Jesus.
