Highest national ranking from Louisiana? Unusual not to see Curtis up there somewhere.
This is all well and good, but all that matters is how you fair vs. teams from Louisiana.
Return to the Dome!!!

Rummel 24 Univ. High 7
Game was on TV. UH is a solid team, defending Div II state champion. But, Raiders looked flat, lackluster. Gotta get better, and fast! Schedule toughens up.

Re: Rummel nationally ranked
I saw Byrd playing on National TV last night.
-
Re: Rummel nationally ranked
Was that national TV too? Thought it was the local, Saints' sponsored cable thingy. Anyway, I watched it and again Byrd looked very, very good. Of course, they have been very good for a number of years now. When might we see the mighty West Monroe Rebels on national TV this year?

Re: Rummel nationally ranked
We going to sign any of the players from your old H.S. this year? When is the last year we signed one? Love to get a shot.

And when can we get a Bonnabel Bruin back in Ruston?

Re: Rummel nationally ranked
Bonnabel? Do they play football there?
Besides, shouldn't you guys start your own thread? Apparently it's against the rules on this board to make posts about other schools on threads designated for one school.
Just kidding! on both counts. I'm not like certain others....
As for recruiting Raiders, that's up to the Tech coaches. We did have an Ostriecher (sp?) as a kicker once. Rummel players have always been nationally recruited, going to schools like Ohio State, USC, Nebraska, and a hosts of others. As well as schools you would think would recruit the New Orleans area. Among the seniors this year, again, several have committed to big schools out of state. But, like other good HS programs, Rummel is blessed with many kids who can contribute to any DI program, if given a chance. I know Tech could pick up a couple of good Raiders every year, who would contribute to the Dawgs.

Rummel 30 St. Aug 12
Raiders enter playoffs as district champs. This is our 12th district title in the past 17 years.
Wipe the slate clean, though. Every team in the tourney is 0-0. It's a whole new season.

Unfortunately neither Bonnabel nor E. Jefferson have signed a TECH football LOI lately that I'm aware of.

Re: Rummel nationally ranked
Great comeback by Catholic-BR to beat Evangel 27-21. CBR has a great offense, have been scoring points all year. But defense wins championships.
Raider Pride!

Re: Rummel nationally ranked
After today's crapola, just had to come back to this thread for a pick-me-up. Will be rocking the Dome Friday, baby!

Congrats to Catholic. Damn turnovers killed us.

From what I saw Friday night, I don't think it's going to take STM long to win one in Division II. Along with Teurlings, University, and Parkview Baptist, they should be dominating that division for years to come. Actually, from what I've seen of them over the years, I thought STM has produced better teams in the past. This one was a lot like Catholic High in that they got better and better as the season wore on.
On a side note, there has been a lot of talk recently about the possibility of Acadiana being forced into Division I because of minority to majority transfer and other exceptions used in Lafayette parish that essentially makes Acadiana a Lafayette parish all-star team.

What was really interesting about the game was the fact that Rummel made the decision to not adjust at halftime to what Catholic was having success running. They wanted to keep everything in front of them and not get caught in some of the trick plays and unusual stuff Catholic High has run in the past. In the end, Catholic High never ran any of it but never had to face the 8 men in the box that Rummel has run at other times this year.
Everyone who has seen Rummel this year was a little surprised they came out so flat.

Yeah boy, Acadiana gets all the special treatment. I guess that's why our facilities are so nice causing all the best to transfer in.
BS

Re: Rummel nationally ranked
Always have to avoid the trap, as a FANatic, to focus only on your own team in the aftermath of a game. So, first, let me say Catholic was the better team Friday night. Congrats to the Bears. That #22 is a beast. Hope Tech gets him!
But! that was the poorest I have seen Rummel play in a long time, especially on defense. Fourcade was off. He missed open receivers, and then, the drops! when he did hit some of them. Still, it was the turnovers that beat us.
Flat? Yep, that was another matter. Even the Raider crowd was flat. Perhaps everyone was complacent. Maybe everyone just expected to win. I know I expected to see a different Raider team in the 2nd half. That has been a given in the past, come out and be MUCH better in the 2nd half. That didn't happen either. So! I blame the coaches. If we are to give credit to Roth & Staff for successes, they have to shoulder the blame for failure too.
We'll see someone in the Dome next year, and try this again.

Neville has been doing the transfer thing along with other exceptions for years.

Re: Rummel nationally ranked
Don't know why I did, but I watched the replay. Didn't get any better than the first time.
And, that #22, Helaire, played only one half vs. Evangel and not all against Bro. Martin they said. Hell! he's their whole team. Wish he hadn't play against us. We'd have won 28-0, even with the stupid turnovers.
Oh well....next year will be here before ya know it.
Not been a good experience in the Dome in 2015....so far. Saw the Saints lose earlier this year, than Friday night....got one more shot at it. Go Dawgs!

Re: Rummel nationally ranked
Rummel Raiders featured on Monday Night Football!
If you are a glutten for punishment and watched the Saints lose again, the Raiders got their (our!) spot on national TV (again).
