But a solemn reminder that every day there fewer of those vets left. Only five from the Doolittle raid.
On occasion here in town I see a car with a plate that reads B25 Vet (or something like that...). It is always a elderly woman driving her elderly husband around. I make it a point to try to pull up beside them and give him a salute if I can. Not sure he has ever even seen me or even realizes why I am doing it, but I try to acknowledge his service to our country in a very small way. I fear that someday we forget the sacrifices that they made for us a long time ago and before most of us were born.
