Getting Rid of Cable Just got EASIER!
UPDATE - 9/13/2017 - A lot of this info is outdated, but PS Vue is still a great option
PS Vue is now available on Roku.
For about $30 you can stream a bunch of channels including ESPN, ESPN2, FS1, FS2, NBC Sports Network.
There is NO CBS Sports Network (but we aren't playing FB their this year). Also, ABC/NBC/Fox are on demand only in most areas - you can watch shows the day after. CBS, PBS and CW are not on at this time. (I recently added an antenna and bought a Tablo to watch the networks).
Also important, FOX Sports Southwest does not look to beavailable in Shreveport, so no Rangers games and no ROOT sports so no Astros. There is a fox sports network, but mainly UFC, poker, etc.
For $5 more you can add a few more sports stations: beIN, Golf, ESPNU, ESPN News, SEC Network (we do play on SECN).
My DirecTV bill is around $114 (over $25 of that bill is equipment, dvr & hd fees).
Here is a great article about PS Vue: http://www.techhive.com/article/3047...ternative.html
You don't have to have a Playstation to get this, you just sign up for a PS account. You can sign up for a free 1-week trial to see if you like it. I plan to cancel DTV next week and save $80/month!
Here is a list of channel options

Re: Getting Rid of Cable Just got EASIER!
So can you get a DVR type device and use it with the Roku?
Re: Getting Rid of Cable Just got EASIER!

You need to have wifi or a connect device. PS Vue is only available on certain devices right now, including Fire TV, Roku, Sony Smart TVs. Comcast just went up to 1 TB of data available - check your bill.
We have been streaming almost every night this month (I watched all of the baseball games online) and we are currently at 111 GB of 1024 GB (1 TB).
You can connect up to 5 TVs, but they all need to be on the same network. You can't watch outside of your home.

for OTA, yes - Tablo is basically a whole-home DVR. It's pricey to start - $200 for record 2 at time, $300 for 4 shows. But you can watch live OTA TV - I watched US Open.

The picture using antenna seems to be better than the picture from DirecTV for the networks. Tablo does have a cost to have the TV Guide - $4.99/mo or $150 one-time. I'm still in the free period so I haven't decided which way to go.
In memphis you can get 20+ free channels with an antenna http://tvlistings.aol.com/listings/t...-the-air/38134
Here in Shreveport, there were ASN games on KTBS 3.2 (or 3.3) Weather or News channel, that I couldn't watch with DTV, but I will be able to now.
Also with the TABLO, you have to buy an external storage device to record shows. I bought a 1 TB for <$50.

I logged on to Fox Sports Go using my PS Vue account and FS SW did show up and it shows Rangers games. I will check this weekend if I'm able to watch live games.

Interesting. For years the Comcast cable menu has shown a FS Atlanta feed on the menu, but it has always been an actual FSSW feed (Rangers games). I always assumed it was a Comcast mistake. Think it could it be a Fox Sports mistake?

I tried it because other forums said it workec.
It also show FS New Orleans - a subfeed of FSSW
Re: Getting Rid of Cable Just got EASIER!
Another Option I just saw: Southern Fibernet out of Atlanta has a nationwide service in Beta right now. They have multiple packages at different price ranges, including a Sports Only pacakge at $19.99.
The sports package is not listed on the signup page, but was listed on this Packages
SFN TV Sports-$19.99 - No beIN Sports or RSN like FS SW

Re: Getting Rid of Cable Just got EASIER!
Great stuff. So how can I cut loose from cable and still watch current HBO?
Re: Getting Rid of Cable Just got EASIER!
HBO Now - Official Site
$15/month
If you watch certain shows, you can start once a new season starts and cancel after
Re: Getting Rid of Cable Just got EASIER!
When/IF Sunday Ticket becomes available on Roku, even at a cost, my butt is gone from DTV
Re: Getting Rid of Cable Just got EASIER!
If you are not using Kodi you are missing out.
