Speedy Smith -- NBA Material?
I have been reading whatever I can find regarding Speedy and his prospects as an NBA player. So far I have not been able to find much, but several articles have mentioned that he is not a very good shooter. I can only assume that is because he has not shot much in the past and/or the writers are only looking at the stats. We know that Speedy would rather get an assist than a bucket, but it has been fun watching him begin to shoot more. I think his defense, assists, and now his hitting a goodly number of 3s should get the attention of NBA scouts. I guess we will see, but I am certainly pulling for him.
Re: Speedy Smith -- NBA Material?
As important as he is to the team, and as much as I love how he plays. I don't think he has much of a chance to make it to the NBA. I would love to be proven wrong though.

He will make a lot of money overseas
Re: Speedy Smith -- NBA Material?
He's not even a D1 player, said most folks.

Yes, I can see that happening.

I think he will get a look in after next year - but he can make a lot of money playing overseas - ALOT
Re: Speedy Smith -- NBA Material?
I've always thought he's an overseas player at best, but the range on his three and his defensive skills have begun to change my mind. He is the BEST defender in our conference. He is one of the best passers in the country. Plus, he's got decent size for a point guard. I believe he'll have a shot to play in the association.
Re: Speedy Smith -- NBA Material?
If he has a strong senior year, who knows?
Re: Speedy Smith -- NBA Material?
I think he will get a look eventually. With another year like this one next year, it may be sooner than projected.
But, as of now, Europe for a couple of years and then a chance to catch on in the States.
Either way, he will get paid to play for a while.

Re: Speedy Smith -- NBA Material?
I definitely think he is pro material. Look at Ricky Rubio, not a scorer at all, didn't even score much in Europe ball, but when he is on the court the Timberwolves are a much better team.
His ability to create opportunities for his teammates to score, create turnovers, hustling after every lose ball, defensive play.
There definitely is a niche in the NBA for a player just like Speedy. Will he have to play Europe ball first, probably but don't be surprised to see him in the NBA in a few years
