Holy crazy shit in B9 - baseloaded with 1 out and we got a double plays with runners strapped 3rd and 2nd
Skelton HR T11 to give Tech 3-2 lead
Error by WKU to make 4-2 lead for Bulldawgs with 2 outs
One out away....
Dawgs win!!!
Great win to take the series against WKU!
After today, Tech is 2nd on the standing 1 game off from USM.
We will play MTSU next week at home while USM will be at UAB.
There is a chance that we will be first by the following Monday. It will set up a great match up for regular season champ between us and USM the following weekend.
Any road series win is a good one, no matter who you’re playing. Good job guys.
After playing 7 of their last 8 games on the road (in West Virginia and Kentucky) the Dogs will get some needed rest this week with no game until Friday. They were a very respectable 6-2 during this stretch.
Really incredible game.
The double play for Tech in the 9th came with the bases loaded and 1 out. The WKU batter hit a ground ball that led to a 5-2-5-1-6-4 double play that included a force out and tag of a stranded runner who made a base running blunder.
Fast forward to the top of the 11th. After being suspended yesterday Dalton Skelton hit a high fly ball to right center and let the wind carry it out for the home run. Tech then added one more run.
In the bottom half of the inning there were 2 outs with a runner on base when WKU's DH came to the plate. With 2 strikes he hit a high fly ball to right field. Tech's Mason Robinson went back and made a leaping catch against the wall for the final out of the game.
Lane said on the postgame show that when the ball left the WKU player's bat he was sure it wouldn't stay in the park. But it did.
Both teams stranded 14 runners. There were pitchers from both teams getting out of jams left and right. WKU used 6 pitchers. Tech used 4.
@ltbsb: Currie grounds to Huddleston who steps on third, and then Tech catches Kraft in a rundown between third and home! Kraft slid back into third safely, but Tech catches Robertson at second on your everyday 5-2-5-1-6-4 double play! Heading to the 10th in a 2-2 ballgame!
