Re: Start Westin Elliot Now!
I get the Skip criticism, but the bottom line is the last 3 QBs played well under Skip. J'Mar flat out sucks. He's inaccurate and anyone watching can tell that he just doesn't have "it". Unfortunately, Holtz ran off his "competition" and now we are stuck with 2 more years of shitty QB play. Better hope the freshman wins the job next year.

Do you think J'Mar has regressed over the season?

We don't think, we know.

Holtz will not allow JMar to pass in the middle - playing scared
Holtz will not start or give his best RB the majority of the carries. - stubborn
Holtz will not run the plays that have proven to work the best - embarrassed that his playbook is so bad

And if this is the case, isn't that a more damning commentary on Skip than his hard-headedness? These are his players and his recruits...

DFM is correct, this is a full blown Skip Holtz product we have on Field. Skips players, Skips Coaches, Skips plays, This is what Skips product looks like in it's entirety, is this a good look for us?
Skip could turn it around with some coaching, player, and attitude changes, but is he big enough man to do so?

He didn't get to start at his high school until his senior season when most DI schools already had their QB commits.
The QB he was backing up at Blinn was a UCLA transfer until the UCLA guy got hurt midway through the season, which gave him an opportunity to start.
He had several DII offers out of high school but chose to go juco instead. Then out of Blinn, he chose Tech over scholarship offers from Boise State, North Texas, and UTEP, and a preferred walk-on offer from South Carolina.
He transferred high schools between his junior and senior seasons. He graduated from Midland Christian that is a member of TAPPS in TX, not the UIL.
HD, what is the talent level at Prestonwood Christian vs the local UIL talent?

What are J’mar’s pre-snap reads/ progression? Or does Holts tell him where to throw the ball on every play?

Prestonwood Christian is a local TAPPS (Texas Assn of Private & Parochial Schools) football powerhouse here in Plano, TX. They have a lot of talent. Most TAPPS schools would be very competitive with most 4A & 5A schools here in Texas (We have a 6A now.) Tech has recruited a number of TAPPS athletes in the past. For example, we recruited Ryan Moats from a TAPPS school, Bishop Dunne.

Are you so blind you can't see he tells J'Mar NOT to pass in the middle?

No, last eye check it was 20/20. Of course, if you have a Qb with a tendency to let the ball hang in the air....throws across the middle might result in a poor outcome. J'Mar only has four int's. Put your players in the position to be successful....
Re: Start Westin Elliot Now!
You aren’t putting him in a position to be successful when the defense isn’t worried about defending an entire portion of the field with more than a token effort because they have watched the tape.

Spot on!

Westin gets a snap to end the FAU game, why bother? What’s worse is that he was called on to hand the ball off, why bother?

At this point, playing him might get him hurt, or kill any confidence he might still have left after being passed over this year.
