Modern-day martyrs at the hands of ISIS
Exclusive: Marisa Martin illustrates how brave men are remembered
In 2015, the entire world was mesmerized as every horror movie seemed to converge in the sands of the Libyan desert. That February, 21 Christian men were ritually slaughtered in one of the first scripted and elaborately produced acts of terror created specifically to be broadcast. Horrific carnage splashed across the estimated five billion screens around the world at once.
Leading up to the climatic blood-letting was a 40-day Islamic “promotional” campaign. ISIS members repeatedly demanded the Christians convert to Islam, making it clear this was their only way out. Prisoners refused in resolute and total unity. It was like looking at gods circled by mangy, snarling creatures.
Cameras recorded a row of stoic faces against the backdrop of the sea. Except for whispered prayers, the men were solemn and silent, ignoring cameras and threats. Prisoners were taking on an otherworldly aura by then, inviting astonishment more than pity.
In response to the carnage, there was universal outrage. Media glorified the peaceful martyrs and vilified armed ISIS terrorists. The UN rushed to make resolutions, and even kept them. Cultural capitalists in Hollywood took on anti-ISIS projects, and films against Islamic venom are lined up to come out soon.
Wait, you didn’t see any of that either? The sorry truth is that people have neither the attention span or interest. But the Eastern Church traditionally honors its martyrs, and has had 2,000 years to perfect it. One way is through making icons for commemoration and admiration of their saints.
All but one of the young men were Egyptian, and 13 were from one small village 125 miles south of Cairo, Al Aour. As most of Egypt’s Christians, they belonged to the Coptic Orthodox Church based in Alexandria.

There is a reason this thread was started in 2008 guys. And if you read the thread you will see how prophetic this Syria conflict will become is in "end days" prophecy. And as a reminder there is a link to certain Bible passages below. "“See, Damascus will no longer be a city but will become a heap of ruins."

“See, Damascus will no longer be a city but will become a heap of ruins. 2 The cities of Aroer will be deserted and left to flocks, which will lie down, with no one to make them afraid. 3 The fortified city will disappear from Ephraim, and royal power from Damascus; the remnant of Aram will be like the glory of the Israelites,”

And now this one. Israel and the rest of the world thanks you Obama. :icon_roll:
Oh well that is obviously ok. God is in control and used your devious mind to help bring even more terrorist nations into the north of Israel as prophesied.

Re: Obama's Road to Damascus
Just another of Obama's terrible foreign policy legacies (typical of liberals) that keep on giving death and destruction.
Up to 70 dead now per the BBC below.
Syria poison gas attack kills at least 40, activists and medics say
A poison gas attack late Saturday on a rebel-held town near Syria's capital has killed at least 40 people, activists, rescuers and medics said.
The alleged attack in Douma, about 10 miles east of Damascus, occurred amid a resumed offensive by Syrian government forces after the collapse of a truce.
In all, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said at least 80 people were killed in Douma on Saturday, including around 40 who died from suffocation.
In some cases, entire families were found suffocated in their houses and shelters, according to opposition-linked first responders known as the White Helmets.
The Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS) said 41 people had been killed, but other reports put the death toll much higher, Reuters reported.
Meanwhile, the Russian-backed Syrian government denied that its forces had launched any chemical attack, Reuters reported. The government said rebels in Douma, in eastern Ghouta, were in a state of collapse and spreading false news, the report said.
None of the reports could be immediately independently confirmed, both the Associated Press and Reuters said.
The U.S. State Department said it was closely following "disturbing reports regarding alleged chemical weapons attack targeting a hospital in Douma, Syria.
"The Assad regime and its backers must be held accountable and any further attacks prevented immediately," State Dept. spokeswoman Heather Nauert tweeted.
Activists circulated a video showing presumably dead men, women and children, some with foam at the mouth, the news agency added.

If true....and I believe it is....then we should launch a cruise missile strike at the base where this attack originated. We've done it before since we got a real leader....again. (the first since Ronaldo Maximus).

How many years does Trump have to be president before he bears any responsibility?

Well, I thought the Iraq war was a good idea because we could go in under guidelines set by the UN, overthrow a ruthless dictator, and build a huge military complex in the desert somewhere between Baghdad and Syria where we could oversee and somewhat control whatever happened in the region. I never dreamed we'd just abandon the area and allow all this stuff to happen over there (probably making it worse rather than better). For Heaven's sake, we still have bases in Germany and Japan following WW2.
Here is someplace I agreed with McCain, and where the media and dems attacked him and called him stupid. He said when the fighting was done, Iraq was EXACTLY where we needed to be.
So Obama intentionally left a void there where the old JV team flourished and Russia teamed up with a Syrian dictator to murder his own citizens and Iran started expanding into the territory and a big mess was created that we could not control. He did this just so he could say he stopped the war in Iraq.
So unless Trump is willing to start a war with Russia, Iran and Syria to try and "stabilize" the region and stop Assad from using chemical weapons on innocent people (I am sure you see the implications of that), this is just what we have to live with these days.
So take your pick....either this is on GWB for destabilizing the region by overthrowing Sadaam or on Obama for pretending all was well and that he was a great peace keeper in the region by removing US influence from the area (because he viewed us as bad for the world). At this point, only total tribalism would lead you to the conclusion that Trump is responsible for Russia and Assad teaming up to use chemical weapons on civilians.
Of course, this is a gross simplification of the history of what happened, and there is no guarantee that Russia would not have gotten involved if we had a presence there (though I doubt it). The civil war was likely to happen anyway, but with no Russian influence and our troops a few hundred miles away would Assad have used these weapons? No matter what, I don't see anything Trump has done to make any of this his fault.

Hum...how many years for the libs and media until Obama/Biden bear responsibility for Iraq/Syria/ISIS/Arab Spring, American border nightmare, America's worse race problems due to him, IRS hammering on conservatives, Fast and Furious, Benghazi, Hillary being Sec. of State fiasco, misleading and lying Russia probe, bowing to Islam's every wish, insulting Israel and Great Britain, ObamaCare, leading from behind on N.Korea, payoff money to Iran and the terrible Nuke deal?

Russia blames Israel for bombing Syrian base; US pins chemical attack on Assad
Russia's Defense Ministry said two Israeli fighter jets launched the attack, and that Syria shot down five out of the eight missiles that targeted the base. The airstrikes reportedly killed 14, including Iranians.
Airstrikes on Monday reportedly killed 14 people, including Iranians, at a military airport near the city of Homs shortly after a suspected chemical attack that killed at least 40 people in a suburb of the capital city, Damascus, over the weekend.
Rami Abdurrahman, who heads the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, says most of the 14 killed were either Iranians or members of Iran-backed groups.
It was not immediately clear which country launched the strikes, but Russia and Syria blame Israel.
Survivors described the earlier chemical attack as something akin to a horror movie:babies foaming at the mouth, children choking and victims wailing as their eyes burned.
Those in the rebel-held Syrian enclave of Douma say they immediately knew their region had again been assaulted by chemical weapons -- and something stronger than just chlorine.
HARRY J. KAZIANIS writes that the attack shows the world now considers chemical attacks OK.

This compounds the stupidity of Obama.
Trump used to say it was important to not announce what you were going to do and keep the enemy guessing. This move is right out of the Hillary/Obama playbook, and will probably work as well as pulling out of Iraq and the Vietnamization of the war in Vietnam.
Thankfully Israel recognizes the danger here.
