Re: J’mar Smith is not the answer nor a rockstar! Bench him now
The guy just runs and throws hot and cold. When he's hot he's really good but when cold he sucks.
Skip has to be willing to sit him for a while when he's cold.
Tonight we won ugly again and became bowl eligible at 6-2 with 4 games left. I'll take it!

Well he did have an additional 2 more decent drives, with the play calls given, in the 2nd half with one TD and a missed FG. So J'Mar had way more than 6 minutes of good playing when you add it up so-to speak. But I would love to see somebody else getting some playing time when Smith is super cold (again with the play calling given).

Just imagine for a moment how good LA Tech would be this year if we did have a good QB, like Ryan Higgins, Jeff Driskel, Cody Sokol or Colby Cameron. IMO, those QB's didn't have defenses near as good as this one in 2018.

True. Still.....4 games left for him to play and get his MOJO back like in the SMU game.

Just imagine for a moment how good we would be this year if we simply cut any of those QB’s in half and let just that half play. Probably still have a higher completion percentage. And the really sad thing is he misses the short ones more than the long ones.
Re: J’mar Smith is not the answer nor a rockstar! Bench him now
J'Mar would not be the starting QB on any other FBS team in the country. He has SWAC talent and belongs on a SWAC team. He isn't good enough to be a starter on a Southland Conference team. It is totally absurd that Holtz is sticking with J'Mar as our starter. Holtz is wasting a very talented group of receivers, not to mention a very good defense. I'm glad we lucked out and got the win over FAU, but it'll only insure that all we'll see is more of this same shitshow of an offense with Smith as QB. It isn't his fault. He simply lacks the talent that's necessary to play at this level.

It's rare that Tech can put a good offense AND good defense together on one team.
We usually only have one or the other. You are right ... I think this is a Top 25 team with better QB play. A lot of parts are in place, but that position is crucial.
Re: J’mar Smith is not the answer nor a rockstar! Bench him now
As I just posted on another thread, while Smith sucks, it's also a lousy offensive scheme that is hamstringing this offense.

Amen to that!
Re: J’mar Smith is not the answer nor a rockstar! Bench him now
So many sacks he takes are because he can’t make a decision even with 6+ seconds to make read(s) and throw/run. Then making the hot read on blitzes rarely works out. And good grief he still can’t throw a swing pass to a RB. €%#¥<$!!! Opponents really could get by without covering our RBs on those because our QB is incapable of making the pass.
Now we have times where it is obvious there are 10 players on the field who have little faith in the key 11th player. Not to mention the defense watching on the sideline probably begging our offense not to have another 3-and-out.

It is bad when the other team is yelling at your QB...

He obviously had money on Tech. '65 did too. He knew about our healthy RB situation (Dancy) so he loaded up. Big parking lot party at the Rice game on Dawg65!

Agreed. My friends in Boston (two are BC grads) are just flabbergasted that we hired Todd Fitch as our OC. According to them, Fitch got out of Boston just before the pitchforks. Todd Fitch was BC's "passing game coordinator" in 2013 (7 wins) & 2014 (7 wins), and he was BC's OC in 2015. Under Todd Fitch as the OC in 2015, Boston College dropped to 3-9 overall, 0-8 in the ACC.

Prior to Boston College, Todd "droopy eye" Fitch served as offensive coordinator alongside Holtz at South Florida (2010-12) and at East Carolina (2007-09). We know how things worked out for both Fitch and Holtz at South Florida.
THIS is the problem with LA Tech's offense. We're asking a BIG TIME LOSER to take us to the Promise land offensively. He can't do it, and it's been proven that he can't do it.

Oh....make no mistake, most of our CUSA brothers think J'Mar is a joke at QB. Many are shocked that LA Tech can actually beat anyone with J'Mar at the helm. Some will post stuff like, "I like LA Tech in this game....but they've still got J'Mar, so I'm picking UAB this weekend"...and stuff like that.
