With timber process deflated - the were looking to make money for shareholders
It's as simple as that - they knew they were sitting on a prime lease and pulled the trigger
Knew this was happening once they banned running dogs a few years ago - bunch of the big clubs offered good $$$ then for a lease...

talking with guy that got one of leases, said one tract wasn't even bid on. state made an offer not much below what they were asking and "the timber company" turned it down. Weyerhaeuser never intended on the department keeping this under any circumstances.
