Virus Testing Costs Could Halt College Football
Interesting article in the Baton Rouge Advocate today (7-25-2020) spotlights how the cost to Louisiana colleges in coronavirus testing could be a financial blow to our State’s colleges.
In referring to the turnaround time of getting results, it quotes Tommy McCelland that since July 4 that test results “were taking as long as five-to-eight days.”
It also cites the cost for what it says is the “NCAA’s preferred test,” PCR tests, averages $100-$110 and says that for Northwestern State’s 71 football players you are looking at $8,000 a week which, multiplied by 16 weeks, the NSU athletic director said, “is a chunk of money.”

I honestly don't know what is going to happen for college football this year. Some are acting like we can just go forward with social distancing and masks. A big question is can you keep players in one place, test regularly, and go forward? Maybe with no fans in the seats? Socially distanced fans with a quarter of the attendance? Lots of questions... Already seeing that even the pro sports are not doing well with this. This season is going to be about as strange as it gets. In my opinion, a vaccine cannot get here soon enough. Has anyone seen a real plan for how to do this? I am like most of you, I WANT sports back. Just unsure if there is a viable plan for it.

I think CFB will start, but after a couple of weeks, Bam! shut down again. Hope I'm wrong, of course.
Was in Hobby Lobby yesterday, they have their fall stuff out. Bought two fall candles, orange in color and decorated with leaves. Love the fall, it's my favorite time of the year. BTW, we didn't need the candles, but they were marked down 40%. HL has also started putting out Christmas stuff. In Walmart they have all the "Back to School" supplies in full display. Probably will be marking those down too...soon. The only sad thing I saw were the masks, in packages of 10, on the shelves with the regular school supplies. These are sad times, indeed.
Back to being happy! I did get a morale boost from seeing the fall stuff. Reminds me of better times...

Yeah I agree. Cannot really see a 12 game regular season for anybody. I imagine a drastically reduced bowl season. Maybe only the CFB playoff. Don't really see many P5 vs G5 games. Maybe a conference schedule, with perhaps one out of conference game, for most conferences. MLB didn't make it through one week without cancelled games.

I am trying to stay optimistic, but even MLB has not been able to do it and look at their resources. I want to watch Tech football, even if there is no one in the stands and it is online. I truly hate this all! We all need it just to get our minds off the real world right now.

Trying? OMG! Ya mean you are not 110% optimistic about everything...like the Techsters reaching the Final Four...the next time there is such a thing? This is serious. No, I mean it. Champ you have always been so positive and optimistic about everything...which is why I tease you about it ;)...but, if even you have had your spirits dashed, why, this is not good!
The end is near....

If the regressives win there won’t be any more protests and deadly mayhem either as the socialist puppet masters will call them off
too.

Soros stops payments to the Marxist puppets, and it is over.

I am certainly with you. I hope Trump wins - also hope this senseless violence ends before then.
