Re: 2005-2006 Lady Techsters' Schedule
I like this schedule. While there are some really good teams on the OOC slate, they are not unbeatable teams. They are really good big conference teams, though, which will boost our RPI. I can tell that Chris is going to pay attention to this, which is a good thing. If we can come out of OOC play strong, we will be in great shape.
Re: 2005-2006 Lady Techsters' Schedule
Thats one tough looking schedule. Hopefully Long will have these girls ready to win.
GOOD LUCK COACH and good luck LADY TECHSTERS
Re: 2005-2006 Lady Techsters' Schedule
I like the fact we've got Iowa, Miss. St.and Mississippi at TAC. The Tennessee game on the road is always a tough game, more so in recent years. I don't know anything about Kansas State but overall, it's a pretty good schedule.
Re: 2005-2006 Lady Techsters' Schedule
I almost made a comment that it was strange to go to a tournament(Rice) with a conference team. It seems odd to see Idaho, New Mexico State and Utah State on the schedule and who knows, about the time we get used to them, things may change again.
Re: 2005-2006 Lady Techsters' Schedule
Kansas State was a Top 10 team a few years ago ... I guess they have fallen since then but I expect they won't be a cakewalk.
Re: 2005-2006 Lady Techsters' Schedule
I don't think there are many cakewalks left. Over the last 2 years, we let some lesser teams get by us and, sometimes, just did not bring everything we had. We, especially, were not good at keeping someone out of the game once we had them down.
This year I really expect us to pour it on and bring everything we have to every single game. We have some great talent on this team and they can accomplish some amazing things, if they play with heart for the full game and for every game.

K-State was #17 in both final regular season polls and was at RPI #18 going into the tournament. The Wildcats lost to Vanderbilt by 3 in the second round. There is some rebuilding to do in Manhattan with 5 seniors gone from last year's team including Kendra Wecker and Laurie Koehn.
Re: 2005-2006 Lady Techsters' Schedule
This OOC schedule looks pretty good to me. But I have 2 questions for you Lady Techster experts:
1) Have the Lady Techsters ever played Grambling before? (I could look it up.....but I'm lazy! hehehe.)
2) Can we get Tennessee to come to Ruston anymore?
HD
Re: 2005-2006 Lady Techsters' Schedule
HD, I'm no Lady Techster expert, but Tennessee was in Ruston last year and I still think we play home-&-home with them! They beat us by 10 I think last year!
Re: 2005-2006 Lady Techsters' Schedule
I believe it was said that this will be the first ever meeting between the Techsters and Grambling. I really think that should be interesting. It sure won't help our RPI, but it might be a fun game if fans from both schools turn out.
As for Tenn., yes, we still play a home and home with them. I think Pat will continue that agreement for tradition.

This is a very good game for North LA wbb -
I wish we would do the same thing in mbb -
I would have no qualms about playing them in football in RUSTON only - during one of the season we have 13 games -
Give them $150,000 of the gate and play ball -
I know there are some that will disagree, but I really don't think there would be much problems -
Re: 2005-2006 Lady Techsters' Schedule
I don't know if it helps us much, except for the gate. However, it will bring a crowd.
Re: 2005-2006 Lady Techsters' Schedule
It would create TREMENDOUS goodwill throughout NW LA in particular and North LA in general -
Plus it would be very attractive to the casual sports fan in North LA -
Playing the local schools, in the proper situations is right - maybe not kosher with how alot of us believe, but it is right and has the potential to go a long way in rebuilding an eroding base -
We are fixing to have 12 games every year and 13 games every other year as long as we are in the WAC - if JO will use this to his advantage and "schedule wisely" amongst the local schools he could go along way in rebuilding a good home base -
Except for two guarantee games in football and 3 in both baseketballs, we should not have to look outside of 150 mile radius of Ruston to play an OOC game -
The window of opportunity that we once had is now firmly closed and its time we started making lemonade out of the lemons we have grown -
