We owe a lot to these senior Bulldogs, and the last couple of classes. They're the guys who turned around Bulldog Baseball and made the Love Shack one of the toughest ballparks in Conference USA!
And they turned Mrs TD & I into Diehard Diamond Dawg fans! We'll be there today for the finale home game from first pitch to last!
Proud of every man wearing the Bulldog uniform. Give Marshall hell today and take the next step toward the conference tournament in Biloxi!

See where this year's team is the first one in Tech history to win 6 straight series. Never would have thought winning a mere 5 straight had been the school record. But, okay. Congrats to the 2017 Diamond Dawgs for that accomplishment. Hopefully next weekend it'll be 7 straight series.

But, Gravy's best teams competed in a very tough conference back then, and I guess it's possible. Lamar, USL, McNeese...and for a while Texas-Pan American was in our league and they were pretty good in baseball back then. We also played a tough OOC, with series against the likes of Texas, Ole Miss, South Alabama (when Eddie Stanky was their coach), Miami one year..., we played Oklahoma State in a non-conference series. Dug out some old media guides - we used to play a lot of 16 game and 14 game conference slates - so there in lies the answer...
OK, maybe that is correct then. I do roll my eyes a bit at all the "first-time ever" stuff we put out these days. We have a very good athletic history and tradition, and I don't think we realize we are minimalizing that with some of the official releases we put out.Quote:

Preach! It drives me nuts when our SID has to say everything is the first time since/ever. It's often misleading or false and diminishes our rich history. Our baseball media guide is so bad that it's missing about the first 70 years of Tech baseball history so I don't know how they can claim anything is the first ever.Quote:
