Are you some kind of seer or prophet? If so, Las Vegas awaits you and you should be able to amass a fortune.

Well, now this response says it all. I should have known better! After all you have over 26,000 responses on this board to my lowly 475. Does that mean that I can't possibly be in the same league with you? Logically speaking, the answer is an emphatic no.
Re: Baseball. Bulldogs Host Northwestern State on Tuesday Evening
Now let's discuss how horribly Burroughs managed the 9th inning down 2 runs.
Tech gets first 2 runners on base. Then Burroughs gives NWST an out by bunting them over.
Now let's look at the numbers from Boyd's World.
- 1.79: Expected runs with runners on 1st & 2nd with 0 outs
- 1.56: Expected runs with runners on 2nd & 3rd with 1 out
Do the math, and Burroughs decreased our expected runs for that inning by 13% with his sac bunt call.
Burroughs was out there playing for only 1 run when we were down 2! :rolleyes4:
Then we tie it up on a triple. Runners would have scored easily from 1st & 2nd without the sac bunt.
Now with the runner at 3B and the 1 out we gave them, a successful bunt would win the game in walk-off fashion. But what do we do? Hit into a DP to send it to extras. Ya think Burroughs wishes he didn't waste an out in the 9th by sac bunting our 2-hole hitter?

Perhaps LB wishes he had the ESP you seem to think you have.
Re: Baseball. Bulldogs Host Northwestern State on Tuesday Evening
Gotta love the "how dare you question the coach " posters. LB has been consistently bad last year and this year at running the bases and calling bases. What he did last night was the equivalent of going for it on fourth and 10 on your own 20 with a two point lead.

The amount of clairvoyance some seem to act like they have is also annoying. The way things worked out we tied at the end of the 9th, instead of bunting, we could have gotten out some other way with a fly ball or striking out. He at least moved the bases with the bunt, because there was no guarantee we would get a triple next, it could have been a double, a single, or another out.
Im not pleased with the result of the game, but the 9th inning wasnt as much of an issue as not scoring any other inning.

I was not talking about the Bunt. Baserunning mistakes happened throughout the game not only in the ninth. Being so arrogant makes you seem clairvoyant

What's annoying to me is a coach who makes poor decisions that reduce our chances of winning.
Yeah, about not scoring earlier in the game... Tech was 0-12 with RISP before Mallard's triple in the 9th. You don't have to be good at math to know our hitting has been really bad. That goes without saying.
Re: Baseball. Bulldogs Host Northwestern State on Tuesday Evening
I think it’s been proven debatable but unresolved whether or not the coach contributed to the loss, but what’s undeniable is that Tech is not a clutch to the moment hitting team. That shortcoming is going to lead to more loses than a questionable base play here and there. 9 batters with multiple at bats not getting the job done is where the greater focus should be.

Leaving men on base happens to everybody. Bone headed base running where you make the 3rd out at 3rd doesn’t. That’s coaching.

I consider a 1 out 2 rbi triple in bottom of the 9th the ultimate example of clutch hitting.
Re: Baseball. Bulldogs Host Northwestern State on Tuesday Evening
That true but there are about 5 examples of guys who didn’t produce when needed. Case in point what happened to that runner on 3rd?
Re: Baseball. Bulldogs Host Northwestern State on Tuesday Evening
Game in Natchitoches Tuesday.
NSU has connected the game to the dedication of the WRAC to former university president, Randy Webb, and they will have a special baseball tailgating event for this game as well. This is mostly about the dedication ceremony to Dr. Webb (a dear, personal friend, and dearly missed), but make no mistake about the "Wreck Tech" angle in this too.
NSU beat Nebraska 6-2 yesterday. That is a quality win. They are 11-7, or something like that. Of course, they beat us already. And, it's baseball, where anything can happen...and usually does.
