W/out USM player a horrible game we still lose because we didn't play a good game either.
I'll give HCLB credit for getting "Gasoline" Miller out after 4 after continuing his recent 1 run allowed per inning form. One more inning and there would likely have been no chance for any comeback.
If I can keep from 10-thumbing my calculator, in Miller's last 8 starts since the Rice C-USA opener he has 39.1 innings, 33 runs, 30 earned runs for a 6.86 ERA.
Tech RPI up to 53 and predicted RPI at 61 as I type this with west coast results still out including Cal hosting Arizona.

Glad he was heads up and knew he could put one down.

Any win against USM is a good win!
Can we go all out tomorrow to get the series win over USM? This should make up for our series losses against MTSU and 49ers
Re: Baseball. Diamond 船ogs Ready for Key Road Weekend at No. 9 Southern Miss
No, this will not "make up for" inexcusable losses to MFSU and Charlotte.
Sorry, this is a pet peeve. Like when a player screws up a play, then later makes a good one, people will say "he made up for his gaffe." No, he still made the gaffe. Now, using baseball as an example, but it's true in all sports, say an infielder allows an easy grounder to get by him, BIG error and a run scores. Later he gets a hit and drives in a run. Well.....? Instead of it being 1-0, it's 1-1. Now, if they would take that other team's run off the board, because of his hit, then yes, in that case, "he made up for it." But they don't. And they don't change a loss to Charlotte into a win just cuz we beat USM. Those losses are NOT erased, even if we sweep USM. We are STILL tagged with 4 losses to MFSU and Charlotte. In this case there is no "making up for it."
As I said, sorry, it's a pet peeve...
Baseball. Bulldogs Utilize Seven-Run Seventh to Take Down No. 9 Southern Miss
A new article has been posted on www.latechsports.com:
The Louisiana Tech baseball team found itself on the wrong end of a 4-1 deficit heading into the seventh inning, but scored seven in the top of the frame, en route to an eventual 10-6 triumph over No. 9 Southern Miss on Friday evening in front of 4,580 from Pete Taylor Park.
Discuss it here.

Cost us at least 1 run, maybe more... He/we are lucky that didn't cost us the game. No excuse to get picked off in that situation.

Big win!
Our two freshman came through for us tonight:
- Netterville: Double, single, walk, 3 RBI, 3 runs (as clean-up)
- Young: Double, single, walk, 2 RBI, 1 run, sac bunt (why is he not leadoff?)
Now let's win Game 2!

Our freshmen have grown up. They lead the team in all 3 of arguably the most important offensive stats.
Netterville leads the team in SLG% and OPS, and Young leads the team in OB%.

We won game 1 last time in the Burg. Hopefully we can at least get one more to take the series.

Let's go Dawgs!!!!!!!!!! Good bounce back against a team that not many on here believed we had a chance!

They should be future leaders, but have been forced into the role of leadership this year.

Not the first time he has done it. He is not too proud to get on base any way he can. He can also hit a curve ball, which is VERY rare among our hitters.
Re: Baseball. Diamond 船ogs Ready for Key Road Weekend at No. 9 Southern Miss
Congrats on the win last night Dogs. You guys beat our ace and I am afraid our pitching after him gets weak. I have been worried about this series for weeks now and my worries were justified. We are not a top 10 team. Hopefully our team can rebound, but if your team plays like last night, the next two games are going to be tough to win.

[QUOTE=FriscoDawg;1694890]10-6 Tech FINAL. +43 RPI points for the win, while it would have been just -1 for a loss.[/QUOTE
And we did it in front of 4,582 fans, a lot of whom were tailgating in their outfield roost. Saw a glimpse of the area which I feel we could closely duplicate by building up the area between out outfield fence and railroad property with fill dirt. Doesnt need to be any higher than just enough to be able to sit and see over the fence.

How do the starting pitching match-ups look for the next two games?
