Keeping in mind that he played against lesser competition, how do those skills translate to the pros? It’s simple: He has always had the talent to be an above average starting running back in the league.
This is a really good article. I'm surprised he's getting this kind of press even despite his suspension.

This is bad news. Two knees in two years.

Torn meniscus is the easiest to get over. Missing the practice time and workout time is what will hurt him the most.
Re: Why Kenneth Dixon is the Ravens’ next great running back
I might be misreading the situation, but it seems to me that this injury is related to the one he sustained in the preseason last year. Wasn't the banned substance Dixon used related to speeding up his recovery? He appeared to be bothered by the knee at times when he was cleared to play. Perhaps effects related to the injury lingered and he decided to go ahead and get it surgically corrected and rehabbed in time to return the 5th game at full strength. He will have ample time to recover and I think that's more important than practice for Dixon. He's the type of guy that will go all out in practice and rb's only have so many miles in their careers. Best that he does it now since he's suspended and I suspect he would not have opted for the surgery if he could play earlier. That's my take at least. (been wrong before)

According to multiple reports, Dixon suffered a torn meniscus in his knee while training ahead of camp and will be having surgery to repair the injury on Tuesday. Dixon, who also dealt with knee issues last season, is expected to miss 6-8 weeks while recovering from the operation.

The Ravens knew they weren’t going to have running back
Kenneth Dixon for the first four games of the regular season due to a suspension for a
PED policy violation
The injury is bad. But what is a "PED policy violation"? I haven't kept up with him this summer.
What can they think of next to keep him off the field?

Performance enhancing drug - PED

News just broke he's out for the year. Big time "oh no"

Yeah, I was pretty much wrong.

Man that breaks my heart. I hope he's given a chance when he recovers. My biggest fear is that the Ravens will bring him in for the Spring to show that he's healthy then try to see what they can get for him. I blame Holtz for playing him his sophomore season when he was hurt. As great as he was, he was never the same afterwards.

That's probably his career. He showed flashes, and everyone was pretty high on him, but he didn't really build enough of a resume to recover. Playing in so few games as a rookie...I just don't see him starting if he comes back, if he's lucky.
