"DeGraauw headed to La. Tech"
Tech made the front page of the Daily Advertiser sports in Lafayette this morning. Coach Sim has reached into Ull's back yard grabbing Matt DeGraauw from St. Thomas More. STM was ranked #1 in the state until they were forced to forfeit 15 games for using an inelligible player; their season fell apart after that.
The article didn't give stats for this year because Matt was injured for part of the season (nothing on the injury either). Last season as a jr. he hit .419 with 10 doubles, 6 hrs, and 39 rbi; but also went 8-3 with a 2.91 era, 52 strikeouts in 57.2 innings as a pitcher. Still not sure what position he will be playing.
Welcome to the LA Tech Family Matt!!

Matt has skills, He is not the flame thower Colvin is (STM teammate,/LSU signee) but imo has better command. He can swing it too. Great catch for Simm.

colvin won't pitch at lsu, but he will tear the cover off the ball at the plate. as a sophomore, he was the most talented player i've ever covered, and that includes several division 1 prospects and an alabama starter. colvin's problem is he acted like he was the most talented player anyone has ever seen.

He will quickly learn that there are 1,000 guys as good or better than him.

Colvin is a very talented ball player. I think (Tech signee) Menou knocked Colvin out of the homerun derby last summer held @ McNeese.

"Sweep of Fresno State helps Tech land new baseball commitment"...
http://www.thenewsstar.com/article/2...all+commitment
He had pretty much made up his mind, but wanted to see Louisiana Tech’s baseball program in action with his own eyes before signing on the dotted line. Boy, did he ever pick the right time to do that.
St. Thomas More’s Matt deGraauw visited Ruston for a four-game weekend sweep of the defending national champion Fresno State Bulldogs three weeks ago. Any lingering doubts about his decision quickly evaporated as Tech’s offense pounded out 15 home runs in the sweep with deGraauw in the stands enjoying every swing. Having already decided to pick baseball over football, deGraauw then made it official to sign a baseball scholarship with Louisiana Tech...
