Wow. If only we'd had a defense to go with it!

Re: LA Tech's Elite 2016 Offense
The fact that our offense has been effective the last 3 years gives me hope. Obviously, we've had some good playmakers over that span (Dixon, Sokol, Driskel, Turner, Taylor, Henderson, etc.,...) But J'Mar is promising, Veal seems to be a sure bet, Craft/Scott are solid, and there are a variety of others who should have expanded contributions (McKnight, Smith, Bonnette, Watts, Woodard, Hardy...). It will be interesting to see what happens.
I believe we have talent on defense as well but really can't guess how good they can/will be.
Re: LA Tech's Elite 2016 Offense
COYHCSH will never care much about defense and certainly does not care about special teams or beating P5s.
Three to four losses every year...I'll take it.

He's been recruiting DBs pretty hard now. We've already got 4 3-star DBs committed for 2018, and had 3 last year (plus 3 2-stars). At the very least, he seems committed to fixing the secondary.

He expects his DC to play scared. I think they call it "bend but don't break". The one exception was a Diaz. Then our fans blame the DC things out of his control.

Our defensive secondary talent is unquestionably getting MUCH better with last year's and this year's classes. Those DBs are some of the top 100 players (and top 25 DBs) in DFW https://interactives.dallasnews.com/...-top-recruits/. That is equivalent to getting 3 commitments from Louisiana's top 25 DBs. Its unlikely, but Dayven Coleman (DFW's #35 ranked player overall from W Mesquite) could also re-commit to LA Tech.
It seems Texas kids really want to be like another recently NFL drafted DB from Louisiana Tech.
Re: LA Tech's Elite 2016 Offense
that is with a QB that missed a game due to a DWI - and had continued shoulder issues that hindered his throwing
Blake Baker - you are on the clock young man.......we won't have the firepower we have enjoyed recently - D will have to step up.
tick, tick, tick

COYHCSH tells our DC what to do. He was given a raise because he follows orders. Can't blame our DC for that.
Re: LA Tech's Elite 2016 Offense
I just want a double digit win season for once. At least 10 wins in 2017.
When you think about LA Tech's last four "9-win" seasons, each time Tech blew golden opportunities to obtain double digit wins. For example:
2012 - Tech Finished 9-3, even after losing our last 2 winnable games --one to Utah St at home in OT-- and our AD managed to not even get us a bowl invite. This was just stupid and smacked of amateur hour.
2014 - Tech finished 9-5, including an inexcusable loss to FCS NSU at home and another to 1st year FBS upstart ODU in conference play.
2015 - Tech finished 9-4, including the 3OT loss on the road to KSU, and the embarrassing loss at home to USM 58-24.
2016 - Tech finished 9-5, this record included the 21-20 loss at Arkansas with our backup QB and the 38-34 loss at MTSU, in which we blew a 20-point lead in the 4th qtr. It also included another horrendous loss to USM in which we were heavily favored and finally a 58-44 loss to WKU --at team we beat during the regular season-- in the CUSA championship game.
Here's the point: Despite four 9-win seasons in the last 5 years, LA Tech keeps figuring out ways to underachieve and NOT earn 10 wins. That needs to change. The Dawgs have been knocking on the door for several years now. It's time!

Amen. Hopefully having 7 home games will be enough to get us over the hump.
