I'll vouch for Coach Black. If you haven't been welcomed to NSU by Coach Black you've missed a blessing.

Over the weekend, my great friend, Coach Black (Harris Wilson Jr.) and his family lost virtually everything in a house fire late Saturday. Coach Black went back in the house to find his sister, and they escaped through a window. Friends in the athletics world, starting with his NSU Demons family, are collecting clothing (46 waist, 32 length on pants, 4x shirt for Black, size 18 dress for his grandmother, 3x shirt for his sister) at the office of NSU athletics director Greg Burke. There are going to be expenses insurance won't cover as they gradually get back to normal. The Demons Unlimited Foundation, through Dr. Haley Blount Taitano, has established a GoFundMe account. Please consider helping as pure-hearted a person as we'll ever know. Here is the link:

We contributed to the fund. And we will also try to help with "stuff." We have two storage units with furniture, clothes, and various items they will need.
It's good to see so many people responding to help Coach Black and his family. Most importantly, no one was hurt. "Stuff" can be replaced.

Nearly $28,000 of the now $25,000 goal raised in 23 hours. Very impressive campaign.

Has reached about $35,000 in just two days. And it's still going strong. Good to see people rallying to help Coach Black and his family. But, ya know, it's not too surprising. With all our faults human beings are pretty amazing creatures.
In that movie Starman (a classic Sci Fi flick), the "alien" observes: you Earthlings are interesting, you are at your best when things are at their worst.

I met and talked with Coach Black a couple of times while visiting my son who worked at Northwestern. Just in those brief meetings, I can understand the support he is receiving from the community.

Good for him, and the community. I do hope he'll factor this support if we is deciding to move up into another program

Coach Black isn't going anywhere. He will be an NSU Demon until the day he retires, and then continue as a Demon fan forever.
