All weeklies here in Claiborne are ran in weeklies, same in Bienville and Union -
When the papers went weekly about 20 years ago - they just amended the ordinance that set the publication requirements
Personally, I think it's a joke that they have to be ran in papers - to me all legals should be posted on the entity's web site along with either the LMA or PJAL's website (since we are paying the PJAL almost $10k a year they could easily provide a digital platform for such)
No one reads the paper anymore

Just nail a copy to the courthouse door.
Re: Changes at the News Star
Effective yesterday, The Times does not report scores, standings, game stories, nor have an agate page. No NBA, MLB, NHL. Sports section was three pages, today four. Only feature stories. Gannett knows that newspapers are on the way out and they want to speed up the demise of print. Maybe the Advocate can become the state newspaper.

I think that one is also as antiquated as certain rules concerning wagons and horses...
We have two "boards" that we pin our notices on and NO ONE reads them -
I have even gone as far as putting factious dates from Star Trek on some of the notices and NO ONE noticed... :rolleyes4:

Correct. But when there is an option to run legals in a daily paper that appears to be supporting the community and has a wide circulation vs. one that is shrinking and cuts to 3 times a week, not all but most municipalities will stick with the daily option. That is a question I suspect Lafayette is about to face.
Re: Changes at the News Star
Have no fear, guys! David Toms isn't in Augusta, but Roy Lang is there bringing Shreveporters daily coverage of The Masters! Everything is good at The Times!

State statutes didn't dictate one over the other.
Re: Changes at the News Star
The print deadline at The Times is now 7 PM. lol. Our Gannett newspapers are a joke.

If you get a chance to read Isabella's baseball writeup today...
He writes like his readers are a bunch of third graders.

His lead paragraph... "For a program still on the outside looking in of the Conference USA baseball tournament, discussions of RPI and an at-large NCAA Tournament berth is about the furthest things on Louisiana Tech's mind."
Wow.
At which great university was he supposedly educated?

They don't teach grammar now. Seriously, they haven't in years.
Re: Changes at the News Star
The Times had 2 pages of sports today, all feature stories. No MLB, NBA, or NHL scores or stories.

And the main feature story was published online last week.
