Tulane, Southern Miss schedule future four-game football series
Re: Tulane, Southern Miss schedule future four-game football series
Wouldn't they rather play UMass??
Re: Tulane, Southern Miss schedule future four-game football series
No reason, other than our AD, that we couldn't have gotten the same deal.
Re: Tulane, Southern Miss schedule future four-game football series
Tulane wants NOTHING to do with us.

Makes sense. They've never lost to us and it serves them just fine to not mess with that status quo.

LA Tech has only played Tulane TWICE in 80 years. While it's true for the Greenies to say they've never lost to LA Tech in football, it's quite absurd to put too much stock in only 2 wins in over 80 years.

Says the same guy who is telling you the one-year assistant contracts will help us keep coaches? ;-)

Wouldn't we? Don't we have a return home game with UMASS sometime?
I could not care less about playing the Greenies.

I would like to get a home and home with Tulane, whip them twice, then "not care less" about ever playing them again.

We would rather play in New Orleans which is a hot bed of recruiting for us. Is it fun for the team to play in Foxboro? Sure, so do both.
Re: Tulane, Southern Miss schedule future four-game football series
Speaking from the viewpoint of a USM fan, this news is good to hear if for no other reason than Nw Orleans is close to Hattiesburg, so it is an easy game to attend for USM fans. I have been to more than one USM/Tulane game when they were playing in the Dome when there were more USM butts in the stands than Tulane fans.
Just my two cents on playing Tulane vs. playing Tech. Playing Tulane was rarely a big game when we played. The games with Tech are exciting and actually mean something. Wouldn't trade Tech for Tulane as a conference mate. Tech plays real football and your fans actually travel. Whatever happens in the future, I think USM and Tech will stay together in the same conference. This rivalry will continue to grow.

In other news, Tulane scheduled 4 future losses with Southern Miss....

We should start just spinning the headline to that. "In 80 years, Tulane has only beat Louisiana Tech twice. Tech still is willing to schedule the Green Wave"

That's the kind of misleading headline one would see in lib rags like the NY Times and Wash Post.

And the timing was great for them, not so great for us.
In 1998 Tulane was unbeaten and ended up ranked in the Top 10.
In 2013 we sucked, and even then, it was a HORRIBLE call on TT's punt return for a TD (called back) that changed the outcome.
Let's catch Tulane in a year when things are normal: Tech has 8-9 wins, and Tulane a couple of wins.
