It isn't the guns causing the issues. They are inanimate objects. I have a few that have been very well behaved; as far as I know, when I am out of town they remain peacefully locked up inside a safe waiting for my return. The fact that we are focusing on the tool instead of the evil person shows how far we have regressed.
I believe there are a number of things that can be pointed out that are causing all of this stuff, and I know you will disagree with me on all of them.
Like the mom and dad being replaced by the baby momma and the baby daddy, and many of the children being raised by tired grandparents or by the streets.
Like the push for a multicultural nation over a melting pot, so that the glue that holds all of us together becomes weaker and weaker and the distrust of everyone else grows.
Like the 24 hour news cycle where each platform chooses a party or path and spews theories and garbage about the other side, making everyone a political expert where nothing is negotiated anymore because the willingness to compromise is seen as weakness.
Like the reduction of the number of people that believe in a higher power, which makes life rather pointless and focuses those energies toward the 24 hour news cycles and the collapse of society.
Like the belief that you are "owed" something by everyone just for being here, and taking from the government via the taxpayer is an acceptable existence.....work may or may not be necessary, which makes those that work resentful when they are attacked by those that don't.
There are many others.
Unfortunately, my children will have to see how all this social change and experimentation turns out, and it's not going to be pretty. I suspect the seeds are there for the total collapse of the nation, and a post-America world where likely China calls the shots does not much appeal to me. Of course there is still time to change our ways and get back to what made us great (strong American identity, respect for our laws, assimilation of our immigrants into the melting pot of society and strong family ties), but since we seem to still be going the wrong way I don't harbor much hope for that.
America is becoming a big Jerry Springer show. (cue your typical Trump comment here)
