John Rogers Buys Archives of Sporting News
John Rogers, former La Tech OL from the mid 90's, made the front page in today's Arkansas Democrat Gazette in an article about him purchasing the archives of The Sporting News. http://www.arkansasonline.com/news/2...rade-20100619/
Re: John Rogers Buys Archives of Sporting News
Why would anyone want to purchase the archives of the Sporting News?
I don't get it.

I'm pretty sure he made his fortune off this type of thing.

He's also involved in collections of pictures from other important news events. He's the owner of the Rickerby collection which includes the iconic photo of Ruby shooting Lee Harvey Oswald. I found this article from 2006 on Rogers:

To make money. John has turned a hobby he had as a kid into a multimillion $ business.
Re: John Rogers Buys Archives of Sporting News
Simple, he has probably invented a time machine and will need those archives when he goes "back to the future" :D
Re: John Rogers Buys Archives of Sporting News
Very cool hobby/business.
Re: John Rogers Buys Archives of Sporting News
Is he an LTAC member, if not send him the info.

Yes, he's a member of Team Tech 100. He's been very generous to Tech.

He probably makes big money off of royalties when people use pictures or quote articles that he owns. I don't know John, but it sounds like he is doing well for himself.

He found out I had a couple of my images purchased by The Sporting News. His holdings got more valuable. :icon_wink:
No, they're not of value to the FBI.. . .

He's the second friend of mine that owns their own business that has been harassed by the FBI. The IRS just sent me a letter telling me that I owed an extra $1348 for my 2011 taxes because I spent my HSA on something that didn't qualify. That was the last year that I could use my HSA because I went on medicare in January 2012. I spent $2704 out of my HSA which was just about all was in it in 2011. I had a $2400 deductible and my insulin runs $200/vial and a vial last about 22 days,so, why would I have spent the money on something else that didn't qualify. This thing about the government trying to run our business is really getting out of hand. Snowden will some day be remembered as an American hero.
