LA Tech (12-4) now officially finishes the season tied for 1st w/UNT (9-3) in CUSA west. Both teams have a .750 winning percentage.
UNT still has two tough games remaining at home against UAB next week. Win those two games, and UNT will finish 11-3 and win the west with a 78.6% winning percentage. Lose just one, and UNT finishes at best 10-4, for a 71.4% winning percentage. That means the Dogs would be champions of the West.
UNT caught a real break this year; the Mean Green didn't have to play 2 road games at ODU back in January, or last weeks 2 games against WKU at home.

UTSA wearing UAB out late in the first half. 42-33 Roadrunners at halftime, but UAB hits a shot beyond halfcourt that the cameraman was too lazy to follow on the ESPN+ feed.
UTSA 51-38 15:38 left.

And two bad NET Quad 4 (MT is #282) games that would have hurt Tech's resume and NET ranking.

...So now, I know why we cancelled those 2 games last week at MTSU.
See.....it is possible to get to the truth, but you just have to almost trick somebody into it. ;)

Seriously though....you're telling me that a team is better off forfeiting it's chances at a conference title in order to increase its' 'NET ranking"? This is how screwed up the college basketball ratings system is.
I'd rather have a conference championship.

The way Tech plays I'd say the possibility of a split in Murfreesboro would have been fairly high. A loss would have killed Tech in multiple ways.
Speaking of splits, UAB is staring at one in San Antonio. UTSA 74-59 with 7:58 left. A UAB loss would put Tech ahead of UAB in all scenarios without any tiebreakers needed. If that happens and UAB and North Texas play, North Texas would have to sweep to keep Tech out of the #1 seed.

Bulldog Seniors Go Out in Style with 79-58 Victory
A new article has been posted on www.latechsports.com:

Everyone in the Thomas Assembly Center on Saturday afternoon celebrated the collegiate careers of six senior Bulldogs during a pregame ceremony. Then everyone celebrated after the game as Louisiana Tech closed out the regular season with a 79-58 victory over Rice on Karl Malone Court.

Great day and results for our Dunkin Dawgs!
Re: LA Tech Returns to the Court to Face Rice
Do we need UAB to win against UNT, because we swept UAB? A split? I am confused about how they are going to do the seeding due to some not playing as many games.

Split. It will go by winning%
If UNT loses one more game they will have a lower % than we will.

North Texas sweeps UAB--#1 North Texas, #2 Tech, #3 UAB
North Texas and UAB split--#1 Tech, #2 North Texas, #3 UAB
UAB sweeps North Texas--#1 Tech, #2 UAB, #3 North Texas

That's a great way to put it. Thanks FD.

UTEP and WKU get blowout wins over Charlotte and FIU in Sunday action. WKU clinched one of the East byes with today's win since the Hilltoppers swept Marshall in its home-and-home series.
Re: LA Tech Returns to the Court to Face Rice
Western Kentucky will have played 3 teams with conference records above .500. Tech has played 5. Along with the lesser competition, they will play 3 less conference games than Tech. I don't understand why they should get the regular season title based on winning percentage.
