Great point. Yes, I've thought about it. Having two conference double headers is almost a guarantee of two conference losses.

Just to re-emphasize my original point...there was nothing in Burroughs' resume' to make someone think he was some "great" coach waiting for his chance. His best year at NSU he was just 31-23, 20-8 in SLC play. That's 11-15 in OOC. NSU finished 2nd in what is usually a pretty good baseball league. Yet! they did not get an at-large bid to the playoffs. Their RPI was way too low because they had played a crappy schedule, and still managed to be just 8 games over .500.
If LB had had NSU in the playoffs, winning 40 games a year, beating some quality teams now and then, then, yeah, I would say he was worth hiring. In fact, had he done that, Tech may not have gotten him. Some P5 would have waved more money at him. But, as it was NSU was mediocre under him. Why do any of you think his resume' is so great to warrant his hiring here? Do we really want to be hiring mediocre Southland Conference coaches? Just asking....
On the flip side, he did coach 8 years at USM, and they were pretty good during that time(6 NCAA appearances). But, he was not head coach there.
Y'all lay off of Hogdawg now...he does watch a lot of baseball on the radio.
I'll actually be watching our Dawgs on the radio;) with a bunch of other Tech folks; and boiling crawfish...on the dock...on Beautiful Lake Claiborne...
..I do love me some Rangers games and some Humperdinks beer before and after as well.
I can understand about leaving them in to long. Who would you bring in besides Harris that you'd have confidence in? As others have stated, how did an all conference pitcher just fall apart? Is it mental? Mechanics? Has to be an answer other than just "he's in a slump."
Tonight IMHO is a huge test for HCLB. Can you mentally prepare your team and yourself to go on the road and take a must win series from an opponent who's down right now? Rice is playing terrible baseball this year, and any way you slice it, this a MUST WIN series for this team. It's only going to get harder from here on out.
From the outside looking in, it's almost impossible to know what the problem is.
Actually I think Hasler may have a tired arm...
I think he threw over 100 innings in juco last year then he had summer ball and fall ball
I think Unk has some mechanics issues since he is not getting the ball down and the ground outs like the end of last year
There is a reason Burroughs is loading up on arm talent for next year and we are now seeing why
And we are also seeing why the coaches picked us 5th in the preseason poll
