Another classic rivalry game!! :sleeping3:
:sarc:
I think we *only* had 2 guys picked off tonight. The very next pitch after our second runner was picked off Robinson hit that HR. Cost us at least 1 run. More progress, I guess. Can't remember how many we had picked off against NWST last night.
And what a dominant performance by Follis! Our defense (and his own) let him down. If we make a couple routine plays, we've got a no-no heading into the 9th. And if I were scoring, I would've ruled ULM's first hit an E5 and then offered an apology to Huddleston after the game.
ULM just can't compete on our level.

Dave thought ULM's first hit should have been ruled as a hit and agreed with the scoring when it was. I trust his judgment.

I was there. It was in and out of 3B's glove. Really tough play on high chopper though. Normally I'd probably have ruled it a hit, but considering the situation having a no-no against NLU, I'd have ruled it an error to keep the no hitter intact. The call really could've gone either way, and I thought our scorekeeper would be a little more friendly to the home team. I really wanted a "No-No La-Mo" headline.

Our score keeper is inconsistent. He gave ulm a hit on that one and an E4 a few plays later when the runner knocked the ball out of the glove of our 2nd baseman. I'm not arguing that call but if one is an error they are both an error.
This getting picked off by right handers is gonna kill us down the line.

How many UL Monroe people were there?

I didn't realize that none of our Monroe fans make the trip to Ruston for sporting events -
I learn something new everyday...

Wow! The scorekeeper in baseball should be completely unbiased.

Theoretically yes, but home teams traditionally get friendly scorekeepers on H/E rulings at all levels. That call really could've gone either way. Popped right out of Huddleston's glove after he went up to get it.

I didn't see it, so can't comment on the specific play. But, generally, at this level, determining an error is fairly simple. Infielders are expected to make plays they get their glove on. Yes, making a diving stab at a hard hit grounder and the ball bouncing away is a hit. But, well, heck, anyone who watches baseball knows what plays SHOULD be made by these guys. As a scorekeeper, on the close ones, I would error on the side of it being an error.
