Flashback....to late 80's. Tech vs. MTSU. Played a now rare home-home non-conference series in the same season. We lost up there in a wild one, something like 93-92. Then they came to Ruston and we trailed 71-59, or some score like that, with maybe 3:30 to play. Dawgs pulled it out when Randy White made 1 of 2 FTs to break the tie and we hung on 72-71. Closed on a 13-0 run. Can't remember his name, but the hero that night was a 6'4" G-F who was HUGE down the stretch, including one of the best shots I have ever seen....he was gone on a break after a long rebound, but two MTSU defenders, including a big guy, had gotten back to defend their goal....our guy hesitated, then took off 1 on 2....it was like No! No! No! then a resounding YES! when he scored with a soft touch finger roll high off the backboard to avoid the swat by their big guy. That tied the score at 71. Incredible clutch shot. Great game between two really good teams.
Both teams went Dancing, we beat LaSalle and MTSU closed on a 26-0 run to dispatch Florida State in their opening round game.
Just another trip down memory lane.
Can we hit on all cylinders for the first time this year in our final home game? If we do, we might keep it close and have a chance to win.
