Why is being offended so damn important to some people. Can't people disagree without being offended or offensive? Are you a democrat that has to find controversy when there is none. Ideas aren't offensive. Small minds are offended. And I know you are an intelligent person.

Former Beatles George Harrison and Ringo Starr helped Tom Petty record "Won't Back Down", along with Jeff Lynne (of Electric Light Orchestra & Traveling Wilburys). In fact, it was Harrison who recommended Petty change the lyrics to say "There Ain't No Easy Way Out". Petty admitted it made the song much better.

I'll try not to sidetrack the thread any more after this post, but there are a lot more out there (Arriving Somewhere But Not Here, Even Less, ...). Steven Wilson is a genius and has moved on to form some other groups such as Blackfield. Have fun discovering the music as I did a while back and one of the greatest bands never known.

One of my favorites when things are down by one of Tom's fellow band members.
George Harrison - Cheer Down

The Eagles never offended anyone - like the color beige. They are boring.

Yeah, Steven Wilson is still making solo stuff.

The name of the album was "Eagles." The name of the band was "Eagles." Not "The Eagles" in either case.
I am probably one of the biggest fans of "The Big Lebowski" there is, and I really like Eagles and CCR. It was a good nuance of the movie. "Lotta Ins, Lotta Outs, Lotta What Have Yous"
But for one to say Henley and Frey, et al, couldn't write good music is ridiculous. I know very little (more like nothing) of phrasing, musical structure, etc, but it is easy to hear that their writings are not similar to most music of the day. Very few songs with "bridges," lyrics that paint a picture, or series of pictures, wonderful harmony, great guitarist from Leadon, to Leadon and Felder, to Felder and Walsh. I know nothing about musical theory, but I know they wrote good songs and played them wonderfully. Gilmour, Felder, and Walsh are 3 of the all time greatest guitarist in history, and 2 of them played in the same band. Also, as important as Meisner was to the band, the transition to Schmit was virtually seamless.
Hotel California is like a boring version of Moonage Daydream.

Unfortunately, they eventually offended each other. That doesn't count? Again, is it important to be offensive or offended?

And I suppose DSOTM was just a lot of strange noise?
Re: Tom Petty. Dead at 66.
Trivia question - A member of which POTUS's family co wrote an Eagles song?

Why do you think I would think that? Unlike the Eagles, Pink Floyd and the Pink Floyd made good music. Dsotm is like the opposite of the Eagles.

They just got bored with each other. If music doesn’t offend anyone, then it does not have a point of view and it is not good art. But that doesn’t mean that if something offends it is good art.
