Possible ramifications of the LSU game

I think we all agree that the upcoming LSU game has more riding on it than any Tech game in recent history. The ramifications will be great. Whether they are good for Tech is yet to be seen. In the case that we win...wow, need I say more. The satisfaction to our fans would be awesome. How sweet it would be to beat LSU and it would greatly increase Tech's image throughout the state, more than any event in my memory. But...if we lose I'm afraid that all we have gained over the past years, as far as state opinion of its program, will be lost. LSU will prove itself, to those who were in doubt, that it is still the best university in the state. Regardless of how shallow that is, people base a lot of their opinion on football in this state. I'd hate to see Tech lose all that it has gained. We're definitely on the right track and I hope that we continue in that direction.

I hate to say it, BUT we already threw all that out the window with last season's disaster...arrrgggghhhhhh. Now, on to the future and BRING ON MIAMI, MICHIGAN STATE AND LSU.

A win over LSU will not improve our image one bit. The game and any possible victory is already being downplayed. If we were to win, every media outlet in the state would say the only reason we won was because LSU looked past us and didn't play good. According to everyone except Tech and ULL fans, it will be a fluke. The only good this game can give is to save money on a road trip and to give Tech fans something to rile up LSU fans with. A loss, especially a blow out loss, will relegate us back to the 1aa status that most people in the state believe we deserve anyway. Only this time, they will have justification for their their belief.

Without trying to sound condescending, losing to LSU is nothing to be ashamed of. LA Tech has some great accomplishments to be proud of in its short history in IA. Everyone has bad seasons. We had a couple of AWFUL seasons in 98-99. That didn't bring down our program. You had a bad season last year. If you bounce back (even without a win over Miami or LSU this year) people will remember your accomplishments more than your setbacks.

I gotta disagree. I still believe a win over LSU would be huge. Granted, it would be downplayed, but Tech would have still defeated "the mighty LSU tigers"

But DD, you are forgetting that Michael Clayton and Devery Henderson are awesome and Matt Mauck has a cannon and has gotten even better while not playing and the LSU OL is one of the best in the nation and they won't miss a beat on special teams by losing Domanick Davis and the corners are better than last year's corners and the safeties are great and the punter is the best in the nation and the coach is the best there's ever been at LSU. Surely, with all this going for them, even with a letdown game they should still beat little old Louisiana-Lafayette, errr Louisiana Tech by at least 50.

Even if it didn't mean anything for Tech sports. The satisfaction that I would get just laughing at ignorant, classless LSU fans would be priceless.

If Tech does beat LSU, we will NEVER hear the end of it. Even if the series continues and we win every game for the next four decades there will be those that say, yeah, but remember 2003 when Tech came down there and beat you guys?

There isn't much of an upside for LSU to play you guys, but I still look forward to the game.

I applaud the LSU AD for finally doing the right thing for Louisiana after 62 years- keeping football game guarantee money within the state instead of sending it to the Citadel, Miami-OH, Troy State, Middle TN,...

Thanks to ignorant, yellow, chicken----, coward, SOB,... Joe Dean, Louisiana is the last state in the union to understand the ENORMOUS REVENUE that in-state Division 1A rivalry games generate over time.

Hopefully LSU won't end this series when we beat them again, ala men's basketball.
