Some good observations (we already know the bad stuff)

The 3rd Quarter: Possibly one of the best quarters of football I have seen in the last 4 seasons from Tech football, both offensively and defensively. We held the ball the majority of the quarter with slow, controlling drives (plus we scored) and interrupted Hawaii's "game flow". The defense stopped Hawaii the few possesions they actually had the ball.

The Weather and Tailgating: Perfect weather for tailgating and watch a football game. Time really flew by...

Attendance: Considering the game time was 2 PM, there was a good crowd. The students were definitely there and loud. We still need to work on marketing and better game times. Even 4 PM would have been MUCH better that 2 PM.

Pep Rally on Friday night in the TAC: Must have been the largest pep rally I have ever attended. Very loud and lots of spirit and competition between the groups. As always, the band sounded great in the TAC. Good fun.

Blue: People are really startng to get into it. The east side was nearly all blue (and the right blue).

Tech Team Shop: Great job by Ronnie Walker and "staff" (he doesn't really have any; these must have been volunteers). There is a good selection of products with the correct colors and logo.

Campus: Campus looks great and all of the new construction will make Tech very attractive to potential students, especially the new apartment dorms overlooking baseball field. The new Tolliver Hall is especially impressive. I highly recommend taking a walk-through the next time you are there (it is open 24-7)

EJ I thought it was the best Game Day atmosphere I have been around in a very long time. The students really had a great day and the old timers need to step up.

By the way, I barely got to Aillet Stadium before the kickoff. Yet, when I was running to the stadium, I noticed there were literally THOUSANDS of Tech fans still in the parking lot tailgating. What's up with that?

Also, after the kickoff and during the middle of the game, I looked out in the parking lot and there were STILL thousands of Tech fans OUTSIDE the stadium "tailgating". No wonder our attendance looks so small. Most of those a$$holes didn't come into the stadium.

What's up with that?

DITTO! My wife and I noticed this as well. This is the same thing we hear concerning LSPOO fans hanging outside Red Stick stadium after the game starts and not coming in to watch. This problem needs fixing. Great tailgating however!

At least the LSU fans usually have the excuse of it being a sellout and they couldn't get tickets - or next year - they can't afford a ticket. That's not a problem at Tech!

In keeping with the positive intent of this thread - I thought the crowd was the most knowledgable, vocal crowd I have ever seen at JAS :thumbsup:

LOL! Thousands outside? There were barely thousands inside. I did see what might pass for hundreds outside, but your point is still well taken and been one of my pet peeves for years. Another one..........those empty chairbacks. I'm sick of that crap! It looks awful. I don't know what to do, but something needs to be done. Probably not on the top of J.O.s list right now though.

I thought the students are doing a really good job attending the game and getting involved in it. There are many more students attending now compared to when I was at Tech 3 to 4 yrs ago.

I was also surprised at the people outside the stadium during the game. We could have at least broken 20,000 if they would have come inside.

Guys, I have to disagree about the people outside during the game. I agree that I wish they would have come in, but at least they were tailgating which contributes to the game day atmosphere. The tailgating is so much better today than just 4-5 years ago. Getting them out there before a game is half the battle. Once we start winning, they would want to come in and be a part of the game itself. Just my .02

One other observation, about the football uniforms.

I did not really like the Blue tops with the white pants. Stick with Blue top and Blue pants for home games.

The Offensive Line seemed to play well, and Moats wouldn't have had the kind of day he had if they weren't opnening up some nice holes. Other than a few series where Adrian Gonzalez got beat, they also pass protected well. I think Petey has done a good job in getting this group to come together.

Hmmm, what about asking Moats which pants he likes best for the next home game?......wonder what he would say?

I got my first taste of the "ol shirt tug" this past game. My Dad had to leave the game early, so I went down to try to find a seat by Kdaniel72 in the box section. I took an empty seat and had just stood up to yell when almost immediately I felt my the back of my shirt being tugged on. I turn around and there is an old guy who didn't even speak. He just motioned for me to sit down. I said wait just a second and I would sit down.

Three seconds later, tugged again. This time another guy tells me that the guy behind me is his Grandfather and that he would really like to see the game. I had just stood up for a total of 10 seconds! I sat down and looked for another seat.

I find another seat a couple of rows closer. It is now late in the game, Hawaii has the ball, and it is third down. Everyone in the WHOLE stadium is on it' feet yelling except for the two women behind me. I feel the old familiar tug that I am getting about tired of by now. The lady asks me if I can move down a couple of seats so she can see. Considering that the old geezers that lay claim to these box seats NEVER attend the games, I easily move over two seats to allow these lazy women their view.

I can now understand the frustration that has been expressed by some on this board with the shirt tugging that goes on at JAS. I will remain on row 41 where the real fans sit.
