The government doesn't need one more damn cent. Period. We WILL NOT default despite the rhetoric. We WILL NOT pull the plug on life support equipment in hospitals (unless Obama orders it, which is possible). The world economy WILL NOT collapse. Will we never get the slightest bit educated and understand that these dire screams and threats are from babies screaming because their pacifiers are about to be pulled from their mouths? Will we forever be conned by the same dialog, the same playbook, the same lies? It makes me want to puke.

You're thinking like Obama now.
What Obama really means when he says Americans don't pay attention

I disagree. We have to raise the debt ceiling. It's just a shame who our president is. We need to accept the deal, get a conservative president, repeal the taxes, and begin to make the tough decisions that will save the country. I think Obama is either still in denial or is happy about our unsustainable debt.

Obama's litteral buddy at GE, who's company didn't have to pay 1 freaking dime in taxes states:
GE Immelt lectures biz owners: 'Stop complaining about government'...

Just when you start thinking reasonably, you say something stupid like "Obama is happy about the debt". Cmon dude...get real. Tax revenues are the lowest they've been in 60 years. Spending is much higher due to the efforts to jumpstart the economy. You have close the tax loopholes to generate more revenue in conjunction with reduced spending. That's why Obama has proposed what he has NOT because he is happy with the situation.

I don't believe tax revenues are that low. This chart shows that revenues stay the same regardless of the tax brackets through time:

The spending was unnecessary as it had no impact on the economy. Obama has done nothing about the debt problem except threaten tax increases, which will have no effect on the debt. He needs to begin to think about cutting spending, but that is a ridiculous idea in his mind... he thinks "take from the rich and spend on the poor." History has shown that doesn't work.... Socialists always run out of other people's money.

I really don't mind him/her. Kind of immature, but I like seeing the other side's view. I even watch Olbermann sometimes, so I'm one of the few who can tolerate the nonsense. Maybe we can even change some opinions if we keep showing the truth.

You can make points without calling people names. It even gives you more credibility if you do that... and more people may respect your opinion. You are abrasive and ridiculous, but I can see that you are actually smarter than your posts come across.
Re: Another Democrat double standard
I think I can see the writing on the wall from Mitch McConnell's statement:
"The president has presented us with three choices: smoke and mirrors, tax hikes, or default. Republicans choose none of the above. I had hoped to do good, but I refuse to do harm. So Republicans will choose a path that actually reflects the will of the people, which is to do the responsible thing and ensure that the government doesn't default on its obligations," he said.
They are going to raise the debt limit and try to solve our problems when a responsible president takes office....I just hope it's not too late by then.
