Why shouldn't I vote for Jindal?
This is a serious question. Why shouldn't I vote for Jindal? He took on 4 year institutions. It seems as though corruption is down at all levels of government in Louisiana. Every criticism I hear about him starts with "He cut spending to _____", which I usually think rocks the house. People said he'd never serve a full time... he has. So I won't to know why I should consider a specific alternative...
Re: Why shouldn't I vote for Jindal?
FWIW I will say that he is very well respected outside of Louisiana and infact has helped Louisiana's image after the usual political corruption problems and Katrina screw-ups. He has been a breath of fresh air and is seen as very pro business and growth. He also shoots straight and seems to be afraid of nobody.
Re: Why shouldn't I vote for Jindal?
So many conservatives hate him. One of his biggest critics down here was independent Garland Robinette... but I mean... he was corrupt as a stinking talk radio host. No wonder he didn't like someone breaking up that kind of thing. I just don't get how so many Republicans and conservatives can hate the guy, but I honestly want to know what it is. And I'm serious. I really want to know.
The Democrats seem to fear him regardless...

This Democrat likes him.

Re: Why shouldn't I vote for Jindal?
I have seen no one else who I would consider voting for. I have had some issues with him,but at least we are no longer a complete joke.
Re: Why shouldn't I vote for Jindal?
I'm glad he has some Republicans that aren't a fan of what he's doing... if people aren't pissed at what you're doing or pushing back against your actions, then you're not being innovative enough and are likly just maintaining the status quo. Louisiana has to make forward progress and this means we need some changes and some people just aren't going to like that regardless of what side of the isle they are on. I for one want someone in office that isn't super concerned about being liked and isn't afraid to piss off some people on either side. Now if we only had someone like this on a national level....
Re: Why shouldn't I vote for Jindal?
I don't know who I am voting for yet, but I am not voting for Jindal.

I absolutely agree with you there- of course he has spent most of his time campaigning outside of LA since he was elected. I am sure he will win, but there will be lots of Republican votes for a democrat this time.

And I believe he's truly a good Christian man and now proven leader.
Re: Why shouldn't I vote for Jindal?
Even though I will probably be voting for him, one of the things that really bugs me about him is that as a typical politician, he wants every one to do what he says but he doesn't have to do it himself. Case in point, his transparency of his job. He wants the state government to be open and transparent but anything involved with the governorship is all hidden. Why can't politicians live up to their pledges and promises? (I know, I know. I'm living in a dream world :()

This. Gotta like the man, but he didn't do what he said he would do. He REFUSES to be questioned about it. I'll hold my nose and vote for him.
Re: Why shouldn't I vote for Jindal?
Where I live, by the Feliciana parishes, he is hated. He wants to privatize state jobs. We have very little industry around here. most jobs come from about 5 different state facilities...State workers are nervous around here

This is why I will not be voting for him. There are really no good alternatives here though- I will be holding my nose to vote for any of them. It pretty much stinks that he can and is planning on stealing ALL of the money paid in by state employees for their healthcare in spite of the fact that he freely acknowledges that their cost will go up- and hello, it is THEIR money. He will have a very difficult time getting a state worker to vote for him. Now, don't get me wrong, I believe we have way too many state workers, but that doesn't give him the right to take their money they paid in and charge them more because of it.
Re: Why shouldn't I vote for Jindal?
The ethics reform that he didn't subject his administration to has stuck with me and really tarnished his image in my mind.
