Why don't they just change the school's name completely, to the University of Louisiana Bayou Dwellers? It would be fun to watch the flunkies at USL have a coronary over that.
They should go with the singular form. Stanford is the Cardinal. Syracuse is the Orange. NLU should become the "Myles Brand is an overbearing dumb-ass". I'm sure Bob Knight would back them on...
