Cocktails (mostly) and the occasional Belgian beer. Gueuzes and other sours, quads, tripels, saisons, trapists. But I am game for anything my tailgate homeys bring. They have good taste.

Thinking about brewing a Pliny clone for tailgating this year.
Doubles
DH 90 minute IPA
Pliny the Elder/Younger
Sierra Nevada Torpedo
Avery Maharaja
Red Brick Double IPA
Terrapin Hopsecutioner
Southern Tier 2XIPA
Stone Ruination
Victory Hopdevil
Big difference between single and double IPAs. Maybe it was a double.
It is rated 100 on Beer Advocate and on Rate Beer, so you could do worse. ;)
Enjoyed a Rochefort 10 our of a Rochefort chalice last night. Delicious, especially as it warmed. Great dark fruit flavors (figs, raisins, plum, currants) with a nice roasted barley backbone and...
Brugse Zot is okay out of the bottle, but is very good when get it on tap from the De Halve Maan brewery.
I will try any beer of that style, but Tripel Karmeliet and Gouden Carolus Tripel (both from Belgium) are mind-blowingly amazing. The Trappists also make Tripels and you can usually find Chimay...
Urquell was the original. A pilsner will never be the best beer in the world - there is just not enough flavor compared to the various types of ales. Miller calls their Lite beer a pilsner, but it...
Stella is a Belgian lager, but it is now owned by InBev (AB). Pilsner Urquell is a Czech pils. The best pils are made from with Saaz hops, which are native to Czech Republic. American pilsners are...
Well, alky content usually correlates to maltiness. More etOH ~ more unfermented sugars.
What do you mean by "body" if you don't mean "maltiness"?
The Tripels and Quads I brought back have more alky, and therefore more body than any of the drinks you brought back. But we should do a comparison to be sure. :)
Westvleteren 12 is the best beer (per beeradvocate and ratebeer). It is an ale. As is Turbodog. "Skunky" is a weird adjective to describe craft brews, and I cannot see how you can possibly say...
Careful, once you go Belgium, you never go back. Tripel is my favorite style.
I thought PBR was a flavor of water. Are you comparing it to beer.
Belgian beer haul:
Westvleteren 12 (undisputed best beer in the world)
Gouden Carolus Tripel
Gouden Carolus Cuvée van de Keiser
Girardin Geuze
Dupont Avec Les Bon Voeux
Drinking a Rochefort 10 in my hotel room in Bruges - 11% abv and aged in scotch barrels. I swear, you can't spit without hitting an excellent beer around here.
Also picked up a Girardin Geuze black label (also 100 on ratebeer.com). Amazing beer.
Picked up a Gouden Carolus Cuvée van de Keizer to bring home (rates 100 on ratebeer.com and no 2 beer in Belgium this year).
Gouden Corolus (tripel) and Girardin Geuze were both fantastic.
In Belgium now. Focusing mainly on Belgian beers I have not seem in the states. Grimbergen brun, Maes Pils, and Morte Subite framboise were all pretty god, but no better than Kasteel Brun, Pilsner...
I guess so. I haven't seen it in stores either. But there are at least 2 of them in Houston - in my beer fridge.
They make a high gravity version of that beer that is not available in Houston called "Raison d'Extra" and it also awesome.
#9 is Magic Hat's most popular. At least it was in Atlanta.
