  1. Re: Dr. Guice Blog with Campus Master Plan Map

When I was there 1965-1969. It may have been somewhere else earlier.
  2. Re: Dr. Guice Blog with Campus Master Plan Map

I agree with that. The old infirmary was behind Harper hall. Maybe in the building no. 80 on the official map which says Housing Office or at least in that location.
  3. Re: Dr. Guice Blog with Campus Master Plan Map

In a rambling kind of way that was the point I was making. The campus housing seems to be moving north. I only went there a couple of times, so hardly ever thought about it.
  4. Re: Dr. Guice Blog with Campus Master Plan Map

They'e putting the new"infirmary" way out on the north side of the campus away from everybody -- well it is close to the new apartments, and looking at the map there are a lot of the apartments near...
  5. Re: Dr. Guice Blog with Campus Master Plan Map

In my day it was aspirin.
  6. Re: Dr. Guice Blog with Campus Master Plan Map

That makes more sense. The old "infirmary" was small.
  7. Re: Dr. Guice Blog with Campus Master Plan Map

Who would think campus security would need that big of a building (South Hall). Do they have a jail in there? Maybe they sleep there, too.
  8. Re: Dr. Guice Blog with Campus Master Plan Map

Who remember SOUTH HALL, the "swing" domitory? It was at the top of the hill on Tech Drive and was used for a women's dorm my freshman year (1965-66). Then, of course, there was the old quonset...
  9. Re: Dr. Guice Blog with Campus Master Plan Map

Those old men's dorms all had communal showers and toilets. Actually all of them were the same up to Nielsen. Just had sinks in the rooms. They would be hard to up grade to suites with two rooms...
  10. Re: Dr. Guice Blog with Campus Master Plan Map

Yes, I see them now. They are not on the highlighted section. The campus seems to be growing that way so it probably won't be long. More of the student housing like along Alabama would be nice.
  11. Re: Dr. Guice Blog with Campus Master Plan Map

Aren't there some apartments there? There were when I used to park over there.
  12. Re: Dr. Guice Blog with Campus Master Plan Map

Those studies about reducing lanes to reduce traffic are right. It reduces the capacity and thus the amount of traffic, but but must increase congestion and traffic on other streets. It's like the...
  13. Re: Dr. Guice Blog with Campus Master Plan Map

That would have been more like it. Of course I'm closer to the first guy now.
  14. Re: Dr. Guice Blog with Campus Master Plan Map

Man, I was just the opposite of this guy to the other extreme. About 120 pounds.
  15. Re: Dr. Guice Blog with Campus Master Plan Map

Everybody I knew used them. But who remembers "soap on a rope"? And House Mothers? You were supposed to always wear a robe to the shower but hardly anyone did. Most (maybe not even most) just...
  16. Re: Dr. Guice Blog with Campus Master Plan Map

In a whole other age "shower thongs". I know it sounds weird.
  17. Re: Dr. Guice Blog with Campus Master Plan Map

The residence halls Jenkins, McFarland, Richardson and Cottingham were rather nice architurally. Too bad they were so far away from the center of campus. Of course almost all of the mens' dorms...
  18. Re: Dr. Guice Blog with Campus Master Plan Map

Just conjecture, but back in the early 1930's I guess the Quad comprised OLD MAIN, the two buildings where the bookstore is (we called them the English building and ??), University Hall (we called it...
  19. Re: Dr. Guice Blog with Campus Master Plan Map

Something in the same architechural style as Keeny or Bogard (1930's WPA) or maybe as late as Howard. Of course the Student Center is 1950's "modern".
