If you're going to do that, you might try a Reader Bible for the next time.
Much easier for big chunks in my experience, with the added new perspective from sometimes reading the books in a...
Finally able to revisit this (got distracted by all those other books and it came due back to the library and then just pushed down the queue by other books). Pretty good so far.
Also working on...
Just getting to the Aillet Bio. It's a quick read, he's certainly someone we can be proud of. Pretty incredible ongoing legacy.
We also finished the Wingfeather Saga last week.
Took us quite a while (it was - a lot - to read aloud), but worth every second. Might stick to shorter, stand-alone works for a while.
Liked both a lot.
I can't remember how I got started on Eric Ambler (probably a throwaway reference in a forward or somewhere down a wikipedia wormhole) but he really helped invent the thriller...
Dragged in the middle a little but overall I liked a lot of it. It was helpful to have my phone and spotify handy to listen to bands as he mentioned them.
Big stack of books to read next to the...
My thoughts.
New book by Nayeri came out and also sounds intriguing. I ordered it and decided to buy a copy of Everything Sad is Untrue (read it from the library last year) for the shelf.
I didn't think it was as good as the Martian (despite the higher stakes) but much more in his wheelhouse than the book that came out in between (which was fine, but a different kind of story).
Dark Lord of Derkholm was great. Still working on How Music Works, but I am enjoying it. Also started a YA (or maybe Middle Grade) book I got for my middle kid that I didn't originally realize was...
I'm not a huge Talking Heads fan, but I started Byrne's How Music Works book and I'm really enjoying it so far. It's basically just interesting thoughtful essays on what shapes the music we listen...
Just finished this author's next book. Pretty different, the "hook" of the setting isn't quite as strong. But it was ok. The daughter read the 7 and 1/2 Deaths this year and it's been one of her...
Middle kid really enjoyed this (looking forward to reading it myself):

There are footnotes and captions. I assume it's the same text, but I'd have to go check it against the website.
Read most of these on the website as they were released, but I ordered the book version from the library and it's fun. Some of y'all engineering nerds would enjoy these if you haven't already read...
Finally finished The Hiding Place. Pretty amazing story.
About half-way through The Light of Day by Eric Ambler. Fun so far.
Got some books for Christmas that I'm looking forward to. All...
I haven't read it, but I did hear that Scorsese is making a movie of it.
Still going on all these, and they're all pretty good so far.
As to books, I'm reading a kind of late western by the author of Forest Gump that's ok so far. It's called El Paso. Finally finished All That's Good and really liked it. Started 3 Big Questions that...
I think we watched the first three but haven't been able to make it back to finish it off. The bookends aren't into it (one is not interested, too cool I guess and the other got a little creeped out)...
I'm not a huge tv guy, but I'm pretty excited about this:

You three in particular (and maybe your kids, if old enough) need to look for this and see what you think.
I've also recently knocked out a few Discworlds, re-read Slaughterhouse Five, started Midnight's Children (checked it out just days before the recent attack), and I'm working on All That's Good...
I think the best book I've read this year (that wasn't a re-read), that I have been recommending left and right is Everything Sad is Untrue by Daniel Nayeri. Picked it up for the tween (who also...
